Who can see the Media Details Page?
All users who have media in their Library can view the details page for that media.
All Admins can view media details from the Captures page.
All Instructors and Teaching Assistants can view the details page for media in their courses.
As the name would imply, the Media Details Page provides details about the media and gives access to all the things you can do with the media.
There are two ways to access the Media Details Page:
- Click on a media tile in your EchoVideo Library.
or
- Click on the media icon in the Class List of your course and select Details from the menu.
This is not available for students.
If you are a student with no items in your Library or do not have a Library option in the top navigation shown above, this article does not apply to you. You can only view media embedded in an LMS / VLE page, through your EchoVideo course classes, or through a Collection you are a member of.
The top right area of the Media Details Page has a playback or preview panel. This allows you to play the video or page through the slides and is available across all Media Info tabs. The area immediately below the playback panel contains the creation date, media type, description, and IDs.
Above the media, in the vertical action menu, users with permission can do the following:
The above figure shows the Details, Publishing, Analytics, and History tabs, which appear for all video / audio media. The contents of these are described in the sections below.
For Interactive Media, those four tabs and a Polling tab appear.
If this is a poll or a presentation slide deck, only two of the four tabs shown above appear: Details and Analytics.
Media Info
Only video, audio, or interactive media share the same media actions. Media Info consists of four sections: Details, Publishing, Analytics, and History.
Details
The tabs shown for the media on the details page are described below. Which commands are available to you depends on your role in the system and whether you own this media piece. You cannot perform that action on this media if a command is grayed out and not selectable.

- Source - The source type and whether the media was auto-published are stated here. The Source Files are also retained here for 30 days.
- Processed Files - Where downloads are turned on, you can download a copy of the media to your local drive. If it is a video, choose which video stream (if more than one), quality, or download only the audio of the file. See also Downloading Content to your Computer.
-
Accessibility - Quickly identify whether the media has transcripts or captions applied. From here, users with permission can order, upload, edit, download, revert, and delete transcripts and captions.
- Transcripts - Add transcriptions, download an existing transcript, or Edit the transcript. Whether you can control the transcripts for this media depends on your role, certain system settings for your institution, and whether or not you own the media. - Captions - Add (upload) or Delete a closed captioning file. If enabled by an admin, users can order and manage closed captions for their videos.

- Player Style - Configure the Player Style to be applied to this media. The selection here will override any institution, organization, department, section, or folder-level settings.

- Select an Existing Collection to add the media to.

See the articles in the Using Collections section of the online help for more information.
What tabs and options appear in the Publishing tab depends on the type of media it is (e.g., you cannot generate links for presentations), whether you own it (e.g., you can only share media you own), whether you are an instructor or teaching assistant or student (e.g., students cannot publish media to classes), and some system settings as configured by your administrator (e.g., shared media may or may not be able to be copied or downloaded).
Folders
If the item has been added to a Folder, this tab shows the fodler name, and section where it was added. This does not appear for Students.

- Select an Existing Session to add the media to.
- Click the X to the right of a listed class to remove this item from that class.
Analytics
The Analytics tab only appears for video, audio, or interactive media. It provides viewing data for each media piece, indicating how many users have viewed it, how long they viewed it, and where the views came from. An overview of the data is provided below.
For more detailed information than is provided here, see View Analytics on the Media Details Page.
Analytics - Overview
The top section of the Analytics tab gives an overview of anonymous and identified views for the past 12 months.
Analytics - View by Date Chart
Below the Overview is a bar chart identifying when views occurred for the selected time range. The past 30 days are shown by default, but you can select a different range from the Time Range dropdown list identified in the figure below.
Notice there is a Download Data button next to the dropdown. This button generates and downloads a CSV file containing the view data shown in the view-by-location tables. Like the data on the page, this download is subject to any filtering applied via both drop-down lists. The data in the file will match what is shown on the page. If there is no data for the time range and / or media location selected, this button is grayed out.
No views for the Time Range: Remember that the drop-down lists filter the data shown in all or the sections below them. If you change the Time Range where no views occurred in that time frame, the bar chart will be empty, and there will be no tables below the chart. In addition, the data in the Download Data button will be disabled.
Analytics - All Users View Data
The All Users views list, like the View by Date chart, is subject to the Time Range dropdown selection. This means you can filter the list to see what users viewed the media in a certain time frame.
Click the heading of the Users column to sort the list by that field. First, click sorts ascending, second click sorts descending. The arrow icon indicates the direction of sort or no sort (if both arrows appear). Drag and drop the column headers to rearrange the columns.
Polling
For all Interactive Media, the Polling tab displays student responses to interactive media polls. From here you can download student responses to a CSV file.
History
This tab does not appear for presentations or polls. It provides creation data, targeting primarily captures done for courses, but includes the creation or upload date and publishing date(s) for the media. Video / audio media also includes entries if any user has opened the media in the EchoVideo video editor or media processing entries. It is searchable and can be filtered by a single date or a date range.
