You can download media from your Library to obtain a local copy of the media for offline viewing or file manipulation outside of EchoVideo. You can always download the media you own. You may also be able to download media that has been shared with you or collection media if your collection permissions allow. See Viewing Shared Content for why you may or may not be able to. See also Downloading Content from a Class to download media you only have access to through a course.
If you download a media file to upload it to your library so you have your own version, you should instead Create a copy of the media if this option is available to you.
Concerning downloading presentations and interactive media, the item downloaded is the original file uploaded (for presentations) or the original video / audio from which the interactive media was created. This means that:
- You will get the same presentation in EchoVideo if the file is not altered.
- Any slides added to the original upload will not appear in the downloaded file.
- Any slides deleted from the original upload will appear in the downloaded file.
- Polling questions are not included in any download of presentations or interactive media.
- If the presentation was created entirely in EchoVideo, the Download original option is grayed out; these presentations do not have an initially uploaded file to download.
If downloading is turned off for the institution or a particular piece of media due to system settings, you will see the Download option, but it will be grayed out.

Filenames are given to downloads as follows:
- The filename is the title of the media, truncated and appended with distinguishing identifiers.
- The filenames include low or full to identify high or standard-definition versions.
- The filenames include s1 for source 1.
- If the download was of Source 2 of a dual-video capture, the filename contains s2 instead of s1.
- For audio files, the filename is appended with audio.
