The look and feel of the Player is changing! Upcoming changes are identified in this article by providing screenshots labeled "Old UI" and "New UI".
A Note on Terminology: This article, along with many throughout the online help, uses the term "video" to refer to some media. Know that wherever "video" is used, the information and procedures provided also apply to any audio-only files you may have. Interactive media (video / audio with embedded polls) are referred to specifically where applicable.
Polls are activities or questions used as question slides in your presentation slide decks, or as embedded gating questions in your videos. Embedding polling into a video turns it into a piece of "interactive media". Polls are designed to elicit student responses that you can review later.
Editing polls can be done in three places:
- the presentation editor
- the interactive media editor
- your Library
All three methods of accessing the poll editor are shown in this article.
For details on working with the five different kinds of polls available and the options each contains, see:
- Create or Edit a Multiple Choice Poll
- Create or Edit a Short Answer Poll
- Create or Edit a Numerical Poll
- Create or Edit an Image Poll
- Create or Edit an Ordered List Poll
The REALLY IMPORTANT thing you need to understand about polls is this. Editing a poll in one place does NOT change that poll anywhere else it exists.
As stated in Creating Polls, when you create a poll for a presentation or interactive media, that new poll also resides in your library for use later. But if you EDIT that poll in the interactive media, the library poll remains the same. And vice versa. The two items, while related at one time, are now two separate objects.
One way to think about it is to consider the polls in your library as "templates". When you add one of those templates to media, you can then edit the details within it to make it specific to the media, without affecting the original. This "disconnect" also allows you to delete unneeded polls from your library without affecting any media they may have been placed into.
Editing Polls in Interactive Media
Editing the polls already resident in interactive media is done from the interactive media editor. To access the interactive media editor, find the media in your library and do either of the following:
Hover your mouse over the media tile, then click on the menu button that appears.
Select More Actions from the menu, then select Edit Polls, as shown below.
OR
Click ON the media tile to open the Media Details page, then select Edit Polls from the command options provided below the playback panel.

Editing Polls in your Library
Remember: Changing a poll in your library, as described below, has NO EFFECT on the polls already embedded in any media. The Polls in your library are more like templates, reusable and sharable with other users. They can be added to presentations or videos / interactive media, then edited within that media (as described in the above sections of this article) to be specific to where they are being used.
Editing Polls works the same as editing any other media in your library.
Find the item you want to change, hover over the tile, and click the Menu button that appears, then select Edit Poll from the tile menu as shown below.
OR
Click ON the tile and then select Edit Poll from the command options below the preview panel, as shown in the below figure.
