Once a poll is added to a video, it becomes an embedded poll. You can edit the poll to be specific to the media it is in without affecting the original poll used to create it.
Editing an embedded poll means editing the question text, the response options, the identified correct answer, or the timestamp of the question location. You cannot change the type of polling question by editing; you must add a different poll if you want a different kind of question. If you prefer your Polls to be as specific as necessary, you can see Editing Polls.
The instructions on this page are for accessing the polling questions to edit after they are embedded in a piece of media. For specific details on working with the various polling types, see the following help articles:
- Creating or Editing Multiple Choice Polls
- Creating or Editing Ordered List Polls
- Creating or Editing Ordered List Polls
- Creating or Editing Numerical Polls
- Creating or Editing Image Polls
If you are editing an embedded poll to which students have already responded, the poll is seen as a new poll in the media, and the original is shown as Removed in the Polling tab. This is so that existing responses are not lost. However, students must re-respond to the updated poll to receive credit.
To access embedded polls for editing
- Use the filters and search box in your library to find the interactive media containing the embedded polls you want to change.
- Click on the media tile, then select Polls from the media details page, as shown in the figure below.
The Embedded Polls tab appears by default and lists the polls currently in the media. It is identified in the figure below.
- Click on the embedded poll you want to edit.
As shown in the figure below, a preview appears in the playback section of the page.
- Click the Pencil icon identified in the figure above.
- Optionally, click the vertical action menu on the poll and select Edit, as shown in the figure above.
The edit poll modal opens.
- Edit the poll.
- Make the necessary changes to the Time placement, the Question text, the Answer options (if any), the marked correct answer (if any), and the response Options (if any).
- If appropriate, add or edit feedback for correct and / or incorrect responses, or more generalized feedback. The Feedback text is exposed to students after they submit their responses.
- When finished, click Done.
Your changes are reflected in the embedded poll in the media. The original poll added to the media (in your library) is unchanged.
