As an instructor, you can manage your Exams regardless of their state.
Manage Your Exams
- From a web browser, go to your region's login page:

Enter your email address and click Sign In.
If you are part of multiple institutions, from the dropdown, choose your institution and click Sign In.
- Enter your password and click Sign In.
- Click the My Courses tab.

Move your cursor or use your keyboard to tab to the course you want to open and click Open Course.
When you open the course, you will automatically be taken to the Exams tab, where all of your Exams for the course are displayed.
Using the search bar, you are able to find a specific exam. Sort the exams by their status. All Statuses is the default. Click the drop-down to sort by Draft, Ready, In Progress, or Complete. Additionally, sort exams by Start Date: Ascending (default), Start Date: Descending, Updated, Created, Name A to Z, and Name Z to A.
Click the three vertical dots to open the action menu for a single Exam. You can edit the exam or copy the link when the exam is in Draft, Ready, or In Progress status. You can’t edit or copy the link if the exam is complete. Deleting an Exam does not remove the Test that you created.
Edit
Opens the Exam modal to edit. Click Back or Next to move through the screens, or click on the icon in the header to jump to a screen. Click Save to exit.
General Information
Add optional exam instructions for assigned learners and adjust the associated test.
- Course Record - The course associated with the exam is displayed in this field.
- Exam Name - Enter a name for the exam. Exam name cannot contain the following characters: / " * <> + = | , %.
- Instructions - Optionally, enter instructions for the exam. If you have entered instructions in your account preferences, they will appear here.

Exam Content - Choose from one of the following options:
- New Test - Enter a test name and choose from Test Generator or Blank Test.

Add Existing - Select an existing test. Optionally, search for an existing test in the search box.
- Click the Pencil icon to edit the existing test.
- Click the Switch icon to change the existing test.
- Click the Trash icon to delete the existing test.
Availability
Leaving the Start and Due Date / Time empty allows learners to access and submit the exam anytime. Any time limits on the test or questions will still apply.
- Start Date - Type in a date or click the Calendar icon to set the earliest date that the exam can be accessed.
- Start Time - Type in a time or click the Clock icon to set the earliest time the exam can be accessed.
- Due Date - Type in a date or click the Calendar icon to set the latest date that the exam can be submitted
- Due Time - Type in a time or click the Clock icon to set the latest time to submit the exam.
Scoring
Configure the number of allowed exam attempts and set thresholds based on points or percentage scores. The At Risk and Review thresholds will mark learner attempts with those statuses in the instructor report. The Passing threshold will mark learner attempts with either pass or fail on all reports.

Number of Attempts - Set from 1 to 10 or Unlimited. This defines the number of times each learner can submit the exam during the scheduled time.

Final Score - This option appears when more than one attempt is set for the exam and allows the instructor to choose how the exam grade will be calculated for learners. Highest Score is selected by default.
- Highest Score - Takes the highest score attempt that the learner submitted.
- Average Score - Takes the average score from all attempts that the learner submitted.
- Last Attempt - Takes the score from the most recent attempt that the learner submitted.

Final Score - This option appears when more than one attempt is set for the exam and allows the instructor to choose how the exam grade will be calculated for learners. Highest Score is selected by default.

Threshold - Set the basis for the below threshold calculations.
- Points - All thresholds are based on points out of the total points in the exam.
- Percentage - All thresholds are based on percentage score.
- At Risk Threshold - Set the points or percentage at which a student's academic performance indicates they do not grasp the tested content. The At Risk Threshold cannot be higher than the Review Threshold. The At Risk Threshold will mark learner attempts with this status in the instructor report.
- Review Threshold - Set the points or percentage at which a student's academic performance indicates they will benefit from a review of the tested content. The Review Threshold cannot be higher than the Passing Threshold. The Review Threshold will mark learner attempts with this status in the instructor report.
- Passing Threshold - Set the points or percentage at which a student's academic performance indicates they understand the tested content. A Passing Threshold may be set without setting a Review and At Risk Threshold. The Passing Threshold will mark learner attempts as either pass or fail on all reports.
Settings
Configure the exam settings. Control how learners interact with the exam, ensure academic integrity, and choose what they see on the exam report.

Exam Settings
- Show feedback - When selected, learners will see a feedback button to click to view feedback for their entered response.

Integrity Settings
- Randomize questions - When selected, questions are displayed in random order each time a learner takes the exam.

Randomize answers - When selected, answer options are displayed in random order each time a learner takes the exam.
- Block cut / copy / paste - When selected, learners are prevented from using cut, copy, and paste functions during the exam. Learners will not be able to paste text from another source into their exam answers, and they will not be able to copy question or other exam text out to another location.

Browser lock - When selected, prevents learners from viewing additional tabs or using other applications on their device while taking the exam.
- Optionally, under Advanced Integrity Settings, configure additional settings for browser lock. Choose specific URLs or additional applications that learners can access during the exam.
- Allow Specific URLS - Enter allowed URLs, separated by a comma. The URLs must also be included in the question, narrative, or case study as hyperlinks, not just plain text.
- Allow External Applications - Select one or more options from the approved list.

- Optionally, under Advanced Integrity Settings, configure additional settings for browser lock. Choose specific URLs or additional applications that learners can access during the exam.

Learner Report Settings
- Show final score - When selected, the learner sees the final points or percentage score when submitting their attempt, and the final points, percentage, and pass / fail status after the exam is complete.
- Show question results - When selected, the learner will see which questions they answered correctly and incorrectly when submitting their attempt, along with the correct answers for the questions after the exam is complete.
- Show rationale - When selected, learners will see an explanation for the correct answer to the question on the learner report.

Exam Password - When selected, add a password to ensure learners cannot begin the exam until you provide it. Your exam password must be 4-20 alphanumeric characters, without special characters.
- Generate Password - When clicked, quickly and easily creates a strong, unique 8-character password for the exam that follows the password requirements.
Learners
Select learners that will be assigned to take this exam. Course roster is selected by default.
- Course roster - Selects all learners enrolled in the course to take the exam.
- Entire organization - Selects all users enrolled in the organization to take the exam.
- Specific learners - Search for and select specific users to take the exam.
Copy Link
Copy a direct link to the exam to share with learners.
To access it, learners must have an EchoExam account and be assigned to the exam.
Delete
Delete an exam in any status.
