You can create any of the available question types in an RTF (Rich Text Format) file and then import them into EchoExam. This method allows faster editing, easier collaboration, offline access, and improved version control. It’s especially helpful when working with large sets of questions or when multiple people are involved in content creation. A sample file is included in this article. You must be logged in to EchoExam to import RTF files.

Click Create and select Import.
The Import Questions and Tests modal opens.
- Select Convert RTF File.

Drag and drop a file or click browse to select files, as shown in the figure below.
- Navigate to where the file you want to upload resides, then follow the prompts.
- Optionally, click to download the import template file.
- Optionally, hover over the file you added and click Remove.

Click Convert, as shown in the figure below.
Conversion Results are displayed, including the Total Processed items updates with the number of questions and case studies / narratives. Click Cancel to correct file errors and attempt the import again.

Click Next.
All items will be added to your Questions and Case Studies / Narratives libraries by default.
- Optionally, choose to create and name a Question Bank and / or a Test with all of the items in your file, as identified in the figure below.

Click Add, as shown in the figure below.
The import will process and you will receive a confirmation email once it is complete.
