Special Notice
As you may be aware, EchoVideo is in the End of Life (EOL) process for the SafeCapture HD (SCHD). We plan to phase out both technical support and functional support in the platform over the following timeline:
-
April 1st, 2020: EchoVideo has ended Software Support
EchoVideo is no longer providing software updates for the SCHD appliance. This policy applies to enhancements, bug fixes, and security patches. EchoVideo will continue to test SCHD appliances with improving versions of the EchoVideo cloud platform until the End of Life date. In addition, the EchoVideo Support Team will continue to assist customers with configuring and managing SCHD appliances until the End of Life date.
-
December 30th, 2020: End of Life
EchoVideo will no longer ensure functionality of the SCHD appliance in any way. EchoVideo will no longer test the SCHD on new cloud service releases and the EchoVideo Support Team will no longer continue to diagnose or solve issues impacting SCHD units still in the field at that time.
You may continue to use functioning SCHDs for as long as you wish; however, we cannot guarantee the functionality of hardware/software compatibility with the EchoVideo cloud platform past the above dates. If you have any questions about your transition to another capture method, please contact your EchoVideo representative.
New Features
New content selection box for adding Library media to EchoVideo Presentations. When a user is editing a presentation in EchoVideo and selects to Import from Library, the selection box provides both a Filter and a Search box for easily finding the item you need.
In addition, users can now select Polls directly from their library for use in the presentation, rather than having to select a presentation, then import any polling slides from there.
See Adding Slides or Polls from your Library into a Presentation for more information.
Enhancements
Skip Forward/Skip Back buttons added to public link and embedded media player. The EchoVideo media player (accessible when viewing content outside of EchoVideo) now has Skip Forward/Skip Back buttons for easily navigating the media to the section you want.
See Viewing Content outside of EchoVideo for more information. This feature was released as a hotfix.
Media Analytics now has a Media Location selection list. The new drop-down list allows users to select WHICH publishing/view location they want to view data for. This then filters the information shown in the bar chart (for when views happened), in the view-by-location tables appearing below the chart, and in the downloadable data file available from the page.
See View Analytics on the Media Details Page for more information.
Zoom Meetings created through EchoVideo to a Course now provide a link for course users. The Class created for the Zoom Meeting when an instructor selects to add the meeting to a course now has an Info link. Clicking that link pops up a modal with the title of the class/meeting and a description (if one was given) and a button that immediately links that user to the Zoom meeting created for the class.
See Launching a Zoom Meeting from EchoVideo for more information.
Zoom Transcripts ingestion into EchoVideo can be turned off. If the institution is using the built-in Amazon ASR automated transcription service for their EchoVideo media, Administrators can turn off the automatic ingestion of Zoom meeting transcripts into EchoVideo. This can help avoid any confusion surrounding the existence and particularly editing of multiple transcript versions from different sources.
See Enabling or Disabling Zoom Transcript Ingestion for more information.
Users can now Delete all transcripts from a piece of media. Users can now delete all transcripts from a piece of media if needed. After deletion, the media can be re-submitted for transcription through the ASR transcript service if appropriate.
See Deleting Transcripts from Media for more information.
Admin Engagement Data now includes views of public links and embedded media. The Engagement card on the Administrator Dashboard in EchoVideo provides video views data by month. These views now include views through public links, of embedded videos in LMS courses, and of interactive media.
Be advised that this change is likely to result in a jump in video views counts reported in this card, going back to the Aug 11-12, 2020 release of interactive media and the new media player (for media posted outside of EchoVideo). The degree of increase logically depends on the frequency with which your users embed media or post public links.
Updated terminology throughout the interface, changing Activity to Poll when referring to slides in presentations with questions for student responses. This provides consistency with the Polls functionality added for interactive media, and making polls available for both interactive media and presentations.
Improved A/V synchronization on uploaded media.
Capture-intake API added to SwaggerDocs - The capture-intake-api has been annotated to now appear in the SwaggerDocs UI. This is designed to provide ease of reference for those wanting to use the API to ingest media and subsequently check the status of that media.
See EchoVideo Capture Intake API for more information.
Device Software Update: 6.0.701666043
The version number of the updated capture device software will be posted in the online Release Notes prior to the AU/ANZ production region deployment
Fixes
- Addressed an issue that was causing Live view counts to be artificially inflated in both the Analytics tab for a course and the media details analytics data.
- Fixed an issue where Zoom transcripts had speaker names embedded in the cues.
- Fixed an issue where Zoom transcripts would have incorrect cue timings when an intro video is in use.
- Fixed an issue where if students were added to a group with anything above “View Only” rights but the Student Library was toggled off for the institution, those students would only see a blank page for those groups.
- Resolved an issue where section captures configured for October 31st were being shown in the class list with the class time offset by one hour.
- Resolved an issue where the Live badge was still appearing in the Class List for classes that had originally been scheduled to be Live, but were later deleted.
- Resolved an issue where the built-in camera on a Mac could potentially cause freezing/flickering when capturing it with UC.
- Publishing an ad hoc capture from UC into a lesson that is associated with a deleted schedule now works correctly.
- Resolved an issue where UC could not run on Macs that had been manually configured to have case-sensitive disks.
