If the device is not drawing at all:
- Check that the Mobi Pen is being detected by the Mobi (a Mobi Pen detect indicator comes on when the Pen is brought to the Mobi surface. This indicator is in the upper right of the Mobi LCD, by the main battery indicator). If it does not come on, then that would indicate that the pen is not connecting to the Mobi.
- For the DualBoard, the pen detection LED is on the controller for the board, which is on the right-rear side of the board. So, it may not be directly visible.
- Check that the pen has been charged for at least 4 hours before use. If it has not, insert the pen into the pen holder and then charge it for at least 4 hours.
- If the Pen has been charged, check the Pen tip. The tip can be removed and reinserted. If that does not work, replace Pen tip (2 spare pen tips come with each pen).
- If the Pen tip has been replaced has been charged for 4 hours, then replace the Pen battery (Mobi Pens RPN-3 and RPN-5, can still get a replacement battery from Turning Technologies, the RPN-1 and RPN-2 cannot and need to have the entire Pen replaced).
- If a new battery does not work, then replace the Mobi Pen (there is a one-year warranty).
If the lines appear in a random place on the Mobi/Board writing surface, this could be interference with the Mobi from an external RF source.
- Make sure the USB receiver is not inside of a cabinet or a podium, and is out in the open.
- Try moving the USB receiver to another port on a different side of the computer.
- Place the USB receiver on a USB extension cable to get it away from the computer.
- If the room has a 2.4 GHz wireless microphone system or wireless video system, keep the Mobi/Board as far away from those transmitters as possible.
- If there is a Wi-Fi router or access point in the room, make sure the USB receiver is as far from the router/AP as possible.
- Replace the Pen tip.
- Replace the Pen.
- Replace Mobi or Board.
