NOTE: If you do not see a Download option and do not know why, see the below section on why this command may not be available.

You may be able to download media from your EchoVideo course classes, to obtain a local copy of the media for offline viewing or file manipulation outside of EchoVideo.

Be advised that some institutions restrict downloads to only the audio stream of the file. In this case, you will only get the audio stream of the video, and presentations cannot be downloaded from the section class list.

If the purpose of downloading from the course is to then upload the file to your library so you have your own version, you should instead create a copy of the class list media, if this option is available to you.

With respect to downloading presentations, the item downloaded is the original file that was uploaded. This means that:

• If the file has not been altered, you will get the same presentation you see in EchoVideo.
• If slides have been added, they will not appear in the downloaded file.
• If slides from the original upload have been deleted, they will appear in the downloaded file.
• Polling question slides are not included in any download.

With respect to downloading interactive media, only the video/audio portion of the file is available for download. Like presentation downloads, polls are NOT included in the download.

To download media from a course class

1. Access the Course you want to open the class list page.
   Alternately, if you enter from an LMS/VLE, click the link to the Echo course from the LMS course page.
2. Click the content icon for a class in the list for a menu of options for that media, as shown in the below figure.
   
3. Click Download or Download Original (depending on the option given; remember that if the media has been edited, the download may not exactly match what you see in the classroom).
   

   If you select a Presentation download, the originally uploaded presentation file is downloaded immediately upon selection.
   If you select a video or interactive media download, the Download Assets modal appears as shown below.

   
4. On the Video tab, click the link for Full (higher definition) video file or Lower (standard definition) to download the video file. File sizes are shown with each link.
   

   If video downloads are prohibited for the course, you will not see this tab. You will only see the Audio tab, described in the next step.

5. If necessary, click Audio to show the Audio tab, shown below, and click the MP3 link to download the audio content of the selected media.
   
6. If the media is a capture with DUAL visual feeds, the Video tab contains two Source selections, as shown in the below figure. Click the quality link you want for Source 1 or Source 2.
   
   In all cases, the file is downloaded immediately upon selection.
7. Repeat the above steps to download multiple assets if desired.
8. When you are finished downloading, click the X in the top left corner of the modal to close it.

Depending on your browser settings, you may be prompted to save the file to a specific location, or the browser may automatically save it to your Downloads folder.

Filenames are given to downloads as follows:

• The filename of all downloads is the title of the media, truncated, and appended with distinguishing identifiers.
• Video download filenames include "low" or "full" to identify full or low bandwidth versions.
• Video filenames also include "s1" for "source 1".
• If the download was of Source 2 of a dual-channel capture, the filename contains "s2" instead of "s1".
• For audio files, the filename is appended with "audio".
• Video downloads are in MP4 format; audio downloads are in MP3 format.

Why there is no Download option

The ability to download media from the class list of a section can be enabled or disabled by Instructors and/or Administrators. If you do not see a Download command for media, this capability may be turned off for this section. Ask your instructor or an administrator if you think you should be seeing this option.

Students are restricted from downloading ANY aspect of interactive media until they have viewed and responded to ALL of the polling questions. This includes transcripts.

Presentation files have additional limitations with respect to their ability to be downloaded. Apart from only the originally uploaded file being available, as noted above, the following types of presentations cannot be downloaded:

• If the presentation was created entirely within EchoVideo, with no base file upload, the Download option is not available. There is no original file to download.
• If the presentation was published via the Windows PPT Ribbon add-on, the Download option is not available; these presentations were published but not uploaded as a downloadable file.

Finally, if Downloads are restricted to Audio-only files, presentations cannot be downloaded from the class list. Presentations are visual, do not have an audio component, and therefore are not downloadable if this restriction has been applied to the course.
