The Create tab in the mobile app is a centralized hub where users can easily create and add new content to their EchoVideo library. You can record brand-new videos directly with your mobile device's camera, enabling quick, convenient content creation on the go. If you have access to a compatible EchoVideo capture device, you can initiate an ad hoc recording session remotely via this interface, giving you flexibility in how and where you capture your videos. Furthermore, the Create tab lets you upload media files from your device, making it easy to integrate previously recorded content into your EchoVideo library.
It is important to note that the specific options available to you on this screen may vary depending on your user role within the system and the features and permissions enabled by your institution.
Record
The Record option lets you capture and upload content directly from the EchoVideo mobile app. Whether you are recording a class presentation, creating an assignment, practicing a presentation, or capturing your device's screen to demonstrate a process, you can record audio, video, or your screen. After your recording is complete, it is uploaded to My Content.
Audio
Create an audio-only recording using your device's microphone. Audio recordings are saved as .wav files.
- From the Create tab, choose Record.
- Switch to Audio.
- Press the button to start recording.
- Press the button again to stop recording.
- By default, the Title will appear as
Audio-Recording_<system-generated identifier>.wav. - Optionally, edit the Title, Description, and Tags for the recording.
- Select Save Changes.
The recording is added to the Uploads queue and uploads to My Content. You can monitor its progress in My Queue > Uploads. If the upload is delayed due to limited network connectivity or an interruption, it will remain in the queue until the upload can continue.
Video
Record video using your device's front-facing or rear-facing camera. Video recordings are saved as .mp4 files.

From the Create tab, choose Record.
Video is selected by default.
- Optionally, switch from your front-facing to rear-facing camera at any time.
- Press the button to start recording.
- Press the button again to stop recording.
- By default, the Title will appear as
Video-Recording_<system-generated identifier>.mp4. - Optionally, edit the Title, Description, and Tags for the recording.
- Select Save Changes.
The recording is added to the Uploads queue and uploads to My Content. You can monitor its progress in My Queue > Uploads. If the upload is delayed due to limited network connectivity or an interruption, it will remain in the queue until the upload can continue.
Screen
Record your device's screen to capture presentations, demonstrations, or other on-screen activity. Screen recordings are saved as .mp4 files and can optionally include microphone audio.
- From the Create tab, choose Record.
- Switch to Screen.
- Press the button to start recording.
- Select Start Broadcast.
- Optionally, turn on the Microphone.
- Open the app whose screen you want to record.
- Optionally, select the screen recording bar at the top of your device and choose Stop to stop broadcasting the screen with e360Video.
- Press the button again and choose Stop Broadcast to stop recording.
- By default, the Title will appear as
Screen-Recording_<system-generated identifier>.mp4. - Optionally, edit the Title, Description, and Tags for the recording.
- Select Save Changes.

Start Device Capture
Device Captures, or ad hoc captures, are recordings or captures created outside standard or regularly scheduled class times. These captures are not part of the predefined timetable but are generated spontaneously or on an as-needed basis. Despite being created outside the normal schedule, ad hoc captures can still be linked to a specific section or published directly to your library.
Teaching Assistants and Students do not have access to this option.
- From the Create tab, choose Start Device Capture.

In the New Capture: Details modal, shown below, update the following configuration options:
- Title - Type a name for the capture.

Where - Select the room / device where the recording is taking place.
Unavailable devices will appear grayed out.
- Hours / Minutes - Select the duration for the capture you are creating.
- Inputs - The visual channel inputs you want for the capture (or select Audio only).

Quality - The visual input quality you want for this capture.
If you plan to stream the capture Live, do not select Highest Quality; live streaming performance will likely suffer, especially for users with lower or shared bandwidth.
- Click Next Step.

In the New Capture: Publishing modal, shown below, update the following configuration options:
- Publish to: - Choose your Library or a specific Section.

Live Stream - Toggle on to live stream the capture.
Note: You must publish to a section to turn on the Live Stream switch.
- Section - Choose the Section to publish the capture to.
- Click Next Step.
- In the Confirm Details modal, shown below, review the Details Summary.
- Click Start Capture.
The capture will continue for the duration you set or until the next scheduled capture for that room / device begins. Scheduled captures will always have priority over ad hoc captures.
It may take up to 5 minutes for a Live stream to begin. It typically does not take that long, but allow for that time just in case. You can edit the recording later to remove any dead time at the beginning of the capture.
Upload
You may want to upload a video to your library to edit it or hold it until you publish it to a class, share it with another user, add it to a collection, or submit it for a homework assignment.
You can only choose media from your device's camera roll. If you need to upload a file that is not supported by your device's camera roll, you must upload it from a web browser.
File Size Limits: EchoVideo imposes a 20GB total file size limit for uploads.
- From the Create tab, choose Upload.
- Select Upload Video from your Phone, as shown in the image below.
- Find and select the video to upload.
- In the Choose Video modal, click Play to confirm the video.
- Click Choose, as shown in the image above.
- By default, the Title will appear as
Trim_<system-generated identifier>.mov. - Optionally, edit the Title, Description, and Tags for the recording.
- Select Save Changes.
