The User Menu in the EchoVideo mobile app provides a central location to manage your personal account information, content, application preferences, uploads and downloads, and support resources. From this menu, you can log out, update your profile, adjust playback and accessibility settings, review media you own or can access, monitor upload and download activity, and quickly access help and institutional resources.
It is important to note that the specific options available to you on this screen may vary depending on your user role within the system and the features and permissions enabled by your institution.
My Account
The My Account section allows you to view and manage your personal profile information. Depending on how your institution manages user accounts, some profile fields may be editable, while others may be read-only and maintained through your institution's identity provider (such as SSO or a directory service).
From My Account, you can:
- Add or update your profile picture by selecting an image from your device.
- View or edit your email address, if permitted by your institution.
- View or edit your first and last name, if permitted by your institution.
- View or edit your phone number.
- Select your preferred time zone to ensure that dates and times are displayed correctly throughout the application.
- Choose your preferred language for the mobile application interface when supported.
After making any available changes, save your updates to apply them to your account. If a field cannot be edited, contact your institution's administrator if you believe the information needs updating.
My Content
The My Content section provides a central location to view the media you own in EchoVideo. This allows you to quickly locate and interact with your content from the mobile app.
From My Content, you can:
- View videos that you own.
- View audio files that you own.
- View slide decks that you own.
Selecting a media item opens it so that you can view, play, or interact with the content, depending on your permissions and the media type.
My Settings
Video Settings
The Video Settings section allows you to customize how media is played and whether recordings are stored on your device.
Default Playback Quality
Use the Default Playback Quality dropdown to choose the video quality that is used when playback begins.
- Auto - Automatically adjusts the video quality based on your current network connection and device performance. This setting provides the best balance between video quality and smooth playback.
- Full - Always attempts to play videos at the highest available quality. This setting provides the best visual experience but may require more bandwidth and may increase buffering on slower connections.
- Lower - Starts playback using a lower video quality to reduce bandwidth usage and improve playback performance on slower or less reliable network connections.
Save Recordings to Device
Turn on the Save Recordings to Device toggle to automatically save recordings created with the mobile app to your device's local storage in addition to uploading them to EchoVideo. When off, recordings are uploaded to EchoVideo without creating a local copy on your device. Keeping this setting disabled can help conserve storage space on your device.
Accessibility Settings
The Accessibility Settings section allows you to customize how transcripts and closed captions are displayed during media playback. These settings help create a viewing experience that best meets your accessibility needs and personal preferences.
Display Transcript
Turn on the Display Transcript toggle to show the interactive transcript alongside supported media during playback. When off, the transcript is hidden.
Display Closed Captions
Turn on the Display Closed Captions toggle to display captions on supported videos during playback. When off, captions are not shown.
Caption Size
Use the Caption Size dropdown to adjust the size of the caption text displayed during playback.
- Small - Displays captions using the smallest available text size.
- Medium - Displays captions using a medium text size. This is the default setting.
- Large - Displays captions using the largest available text size for improved readability.
Caption Location
Use the Caption Location dropdown to choose where captions appear on the screen.
- Top - Displays captions near the top of the video player.
- Bottom - Displays captions near the bottom of the video player.
Caption Style
Use the Caption Style dropdown to select the appearance of the caption text and background.
- Light Mode - Displays dark text on a light background for captions.
- Dark Mode - Displays light text on a dark background for captions, which can improve readability in low-light environments or for users who prefer higher contrast.
Permissions
The Permissions section lets you review and manage the permissions the EchoVideo mobile app uses to access your device's hardware. These permissions are required for features such as recording and uploading media.
Camera
The Camera permission lets the EchoVideo app use your device's camera to record videos and take photos. If permission is not granted, you cannot record videos. Grant permission in your device settings.
Microphone
The Microphone permission lets the EchoVideo app record audio with videos or audio-only content. If permission is not granted, you cannot record audio. Grant permission in your device settings.
My Queue
The My Queue section allows you to monitor the status of media being transferred between your device and EchoVideo. This includes uploads that are awaiting transmission or currently in progress, as well as downloads that are being saved to your device.
Uploads
The Uploads queue displays recordings and other media that are pending upload or currently being uploaded to EchoVideo. Monitor each upload's progress and verify that your content has been successfully transferred to your EchoVideo library. Uploads may remain pending if your device has limited network connectivity or if the upload has been temporarily interrupted.
Downloads
The Downloads queue displays media that are pending download or are currently being downloaded to your device. Monitor the progress of each download until it is available for offline access. Download times vary depending on the size of the media and the speed of your network connection.
The upload / download of large files over cellular data may impact your data plan. We recommend using Wi-Fi to upload / download media whenever possible.
