This article outlines the Administrator workflow for managing audio description files. For non-admins, see Uploading Audio Descriptions.
Some institutions that add audio descriptions to their video content use a third-party provider. If this describes your institution, see Configuring Audio Descriptions for information on your third-party configuration.
You can manage the audio description of your videos by:
- Ordering Audio Description submits the media to the third-party provider for audio descriptions. See the note below regarding sending for reprocessing.
- Uploading your own audio description files - EchoVideo supports the use of .MP3 files.
-
Deleting the existing audio description file from the video altogether.
Before sending a capture to have audio descriptions added or to be reprocessed for audio descriptions, know that:
- All audio description reprocessing will likely incur a fee. If you are reprocessing captures for audio descriptions because of errors or problems with the original, contact your provider to resolve the issue.
- Some institutions set the audio description turnaround time to several days to reduce costs. Be certain you do not inadvertently send any captures for processing before the initial audio description is slated to be completed. This will incur a second cost for these captures.
- Only Administrators can submit content for audio description reprocessing.
Order an Audio Description for a Capture or Video
All Institution-level Administrators and Designated Administrators can order an audio description for any media in their hierarchy. Admins can use any audio description configuration configured for the Institution.
Other Non-Administrator Users (Instructors, Schedulers, etc.) who have been granted permission to order audio descriptions can send any media they own out for audio descriptions. Non-admins can only select from audio description configurations that allow ordering.
