User administrators can create these user types with the Habitat interface:
- Habitat users who have access to Habitat and EchoInk.
- EchoInk users who have access only to one or more libraries.
The following sections provide more detail about each registration method.
Add Habitat Users
This section describes how to create Habitat users who have access to both Habitat and the EchoInk library. If you want to create users who only have access to the EchoInk library, see Add EchoInk library users.
- Access the Create New User window, under the People tab.
-
Check whether the user’s account already exists in the system.
Be sure to check whether a Habitat user already has an account before creating a new one. Creating duplicate user accounts causes data conflict issues. Email support@echo360.com for help with consolidating duplicate accounts.
- Complete the new user registration form for a new Habitat user.
-
Enter the user’s first and last name, select the Give this new user access to Habitat checkbox, and enter the user’s email address.
If you forget to select the Give this new user access to Habitat checkbox when creating a new Habitat user, that user must provide the temporary password during their initial Habitat login.
- This action also implicitly grants a new Habitat user access to any EchoInk instance configured for a Habitat project that the user joins. However, the project's administrator must ensure that the user is explicitly included in the project’s distribution rules.
-
- Add the new Habitat user to projects using the Add User to Habitat Projects window and adjust the user’s permissions, or skip this step.
-
Habitat displays a confirmation window when you successfully add a new user.
You can view information about the new user or add another new user.
- Habitat sends the user a Welcome to Habitat email with the subject line New Account Setup for EchoInk Habitat.
-
The user clicks the Go to Habitat button in the email to complete the signup process.
Once a user successfully registers their account, the Go to Habitat button is deactivated. Instruct your users to bookmark the dashboard URL for their subsequent logins.
- For organizations that do not use SAML 2.0 SSO, Habitat prompts the user to change their organization’s temporary password to a new, unique one before allowing them to access the dashboard.
-
Add EchoInk Library Users
This section describes how to create EchoInk library user accounts. If you want to create users who have access to both Habitat and the EchoInk library, see Add Habitat users.
- Access the Create New User window, under the People tab.
-
Check whether the user’s account already exists in the system.
Be sure to check whether a user already has an account before creating a new one. If your organization uses SAML 2.0 SSO with Automatic User Provisioning enabled, the user’s data may already exist in EchoInk. If you create another account through the interface, the system will create duplicate accounts, and the user will not be able to log in to EchoInk. Email support@echo360.com for help with consolidating duplicate accounts.
-
Complete the new user registration form to create a new user.
Enter the user’s first and last name and either a username or an email address. If you specify a username for a user, select the This user does not have an email address checkbox.
- Habitat displays a confirmation window when you successfully add a new user. You can view information about the new user or add another new user.
-
Ensure that your users receive their login credentials.
Habitat does not send login credentials to new or existing users via email. Your organization must provide this information to your users. For more information, contact your EchoInk representative.
