With an EchoExam LMS / VLE integration, you can
- Synchronize courses from the LMS / VLE
- Synchronize your course roster from the LMS / VLE
- Push results to the LMS / VLE Gradebook.
To import a course from an LMS / VLE, it must first be linked to EchoExam. If you need to configure EchoExam to your LMS / VLE, an EchoExam account administrator must contact Echo360 Support at support@echo360.com.
This article is relevant for these integrations:
- Canvas
- Blackboard
Creating Your Course
- Log in to EchoExam with your instructor account.
-
Click on Create and select Course.
The Create Course modal opens.
- Select Import, as shown in the figure below.
-
From the dropdown, select the LMS you want to use (there may only be one) and click Sign in, as shown in the figure above.
NOTE: Depending on your LMS and configuration, you may see an authorization screen after signing in to your LMS. Once you authorize the connection, you will be redirected back to EchoExam with a valid connection between your EchoExam and your LMS / VLE. You will see a list of your LMS / VLE courses on the Import tab.
- Select one or more courses to import.
-
Click Create.
Depending on your LMS provider, EchoExam may not differentiate between sections within a course. When you import the parent course into EchoExam, learners from all the sections you have access to will be merged into a single roster.
Our integration provider facilitates communication between Echo360 and your LMS. Our provider syncs course and roster data from the LMS between one and four times per day. You may see delays in data updates of up to 24 hours after courses are created or edited in the LMS.
The course(s) are imported, and you will see the course(s) in your EchoExam My Courses tab. An indicator appears on the course card identifying the LMS link.
If multiple co-convenors in the LMS course also wish to access the same synchronized EchoExam course, they must follow the same steps above. This will make them co-convenors in the EchoExam synchronized course and give them access to all EchoExam course-related information. Any changes they make will be reflected to all EchoExam co-convenors for that specific EchoExam synchronized course.
Manage Course Roster and Sync Learners
Manage your EchoExam course by updating details, syncing your LMS/VLE roster, assisting students with account setup, and exporting session results back to your LMS/VLE.
Access Course Details
Open your course and navigate to the Details tab. You can optionally click Edit to update the course description. Click Save to keep your edits.
View and Sync Roster
Click the Roster tab to view all registered learners. The roster syncs nightly with your LMS / VLE, but you can manually sync it at any time by clicking Sync Now. Learners will appear as pending until they create their EchoExam accounts.
You may see delays in data updates of up to 24 hours when learners are added or removed from a course roster in your LMS. If a learner has not created their LMS account (shows as pending in the LMS), they will not be synced to EchoExam.
Account Creation and Invites
Students receive an email prompting them to create their EchoExam accounts. Once completed, their LMS / VLE and EchoExam accounts are linked via email. Use Resend Invites to re-send emails to pending students as needed.
Assign Exams and Export Results
After importing your LMS / VLE course into EchoExam, you can assign exams. To upload results back to your LMS / VLE, go to the Results tab, click Sync Now, and select which completed exams you would like to send to the LMS gradebook.
