Faceted filters allow instructors to drill down to the specific question or questions that they need, at the time and place they need them. These additional filter options include multi-select filters for question type, linked metadata, and linked narrative or case study.
The filter is implemented in the following places:
-
Publisher title details
-
Questions (shown in the figure below)
-
Question bank details
- Add existing questions modal in both the question bank and the test editor
- When linking a question to a narrative / case study
The filter includes sections for:
- Question Type - Filters by available question type(s).
- Case Study / Narrative - Filters by linked case study / narrative.
This filter includes an option for No Case Study / No Narrative. Selecting this option will return results for all questions that are not associated with a case study / narrative.
- Metadata - Filters by metadata tags.
This filter includes an option for No Metadata. Selecting this option will return results for all questions that are not associated with any metadata tags.

- Click the X to clear the section search.
- Optionally, click Show More to expand the section options.
- Make your selections.
- Click Apply Filter.
The list is updated with the selected filters applied.
Filtering will return all results that meet any one of the criteria from each section. Items display in order of most results, with five items shown by default. Multiple items can be selected using OR logic. The item count is displayed beside each option. Truncated text appears with … in the center, showing the full text on hover.
For example, if the question type filter has Multiple Choice and Multiple Select questions selected, and the metadata filter has Difficulty: Easy and Difficulty: Intermediate selected, the results will show All Multiple Choice questions with either the Difficulty: Easy or Difficulty: Intermediate tag, and all Multiple Select questions with either the Difficulty: Easy or Difficulty: Intermediate tag.
