When creating a test manually or with the Test Generator, there are three main areas of that editor, each with unique features.
The Question List
All questions you add to your test will appear on the left side of your screen.
Search
The Search box allows you to find a specific word, phrase, or question. Start typing to refine your search.
Replace
Search and then click the Replace button to find and replace the search term with another term.
You can replace words or phrases one by one using the arrow buttons to move through the search results or click Replace All to swap all instances in all test questions.
Questions from a publisher title can be searched / filtered, but text cannot be replaced.
Filter
Use the Filter button to filter and show questions of a certain type. Show All is the default. Question types in the dropdown depend on which question types you added to the test.
Reorder
You can click anywhere on a question to drag and drop it to a new spot in your test. Question numbers update automatically when reordered.
Question Actions
Clicking the three vertical dots to open the action menu on a question allows you to Duplicate and / or Remove the question. When you Duplicate a question, it appears at the bottom of the existing questions. Removing a question instantly deletes it from the test (it will still remain in your question library).
Edit and Preview
You can edit your questions from the test; a separate editing modal is unnecessary. Update your question text, add images, or update answer options and click Save at the bottom of the editor. You will see a Back to Top arrow above the Save button if the question requires scrolling. Any changes you make to a question will be automatically updated wherever that question is used, including questions in tests that have been published but have yet to be assigned. You can preview questions as your learners will see them from Desktop, Tablet, or Mobile.
Content Options and Metadata
View question options, metadata, feedback & rationale, and additional help on the right side of your screen. Update question settings and click Save at the bottom of the editor. Any changes you make to a question will be automatically updated wherever that question is used, including questions in tests that have been published but have yet to be assigned.
Options
Question options refer to the settings and configurations that can be applied to each test question on an exam. These options allow you to control how questions are presented, scored, and function within the exam context. The Options displayed will depend on which question type is selected.
Metadata
Question metadata assists you in keeping track of learning standards, question difficulty, topics, and more to ensure that your tests meet curriculum, school district, state, and other requirements. Metadata tags must be created before they can be added to a question.
Feedback & Rationale
Rationale typically consists of an additional explanation for the correct answer to the question. Basic feedback can be configured based on whether the learner supplies a correct or incorrect answer, while advanced feedback allows you to specify feedback based on specific learner responses. Instructor annotations can be used to add notes that are only visible to instructors and administrators, never to learners.
Additional Information
This tab will display an article from our Knowledge Base relevant to your task. You do not need to switch between the EchoExam interface and the Knowledge Base.
