Exam Settings
Exam Settings
- Allow backwards navigation - Turned on by default unless changed in the instructor preferences or unless the exam has timed questions (this setting is automatically turned off when individual questions are timed). When turned off, learners cannot return to previous questions, must complete all questions in order, and will not have access to the question navigation panel.
- First answer only - Turned off by default unless changed in the instructor preferences. When turned on, learners cannot change their answers to a question once saved. Learners are prompted when saving so they know that the response cannot be changed.
- Show feedback - When enabled, learners will see a feedback button to click to view feedback for their entered response.
- Enable Password - When enabled, add a password to ensure learners cannot begin the exam until you provide it. Your exam password must be 4-20 alphanumeric characters, without special characters.
Integrity Settings
- Randomize questions - The questions are displayed in random order each time a learner takes the exam.
- Randomize answers - The answer options are displayed in random order each time a learner takes the exam.
- Block cut / copy / paste - This prevents learners from using cut, copy, and paste functions during an exam. Learners will not be able to paste text from another source into their exam answers, and they will not be able to copy question or other exam text out to another location.
- Browser lock - This feature prevents learners from viewing additional tabs or using other applications on their devices while taking the exam.
Report Settings
- Show score - When enabled, the learner sees the final points or percentage score when submitting their attempt and the final points, percentage, and pass / fail status after the exam is complete.
- Show results - When enabled, the learner will see which questions they answered correctly and incorrectly when submitting their attempt, along with the correct answers, after the exam is complete.
- Show rationale - When enabled, the learner report will show an explanation for the correct answer to the question.
Threshold
Set the basis for threshold calculations.
- Points - All thresholds are based on points out of the total points in the exam.
- Percentage - All thresholds are based on percentage score.
Number of Attempts
Set from 1 to 10 or Unlimited. This defines the number of times each learner can submit the exam during the scheduled time.
- Highest Score - Takes the highest score attempt that the learner submitted.
- Average Score - Takes the average score from all attempts that the learner submitted.
- Last Attempt - Takes the score from the most recent attempt that the learner submitted.
At Risk Threshold
Set the points or percentage at which a learner's academic performance indicates they do not grasp the tested content. The At Risk Threshold cannot be higher than the Review Threshold.
Review Threshold
Set the points or percentage at which a learner's academic performance indicates they will benefit from a review of the tested content. The Review Threshold cannot be higher than the Passing Threshold.
Passing Threshold
Set the points or percentage at which a student's academic performance indicates they understand the tested content. A Passing Threshold may be set without setting a Review and At Risk Threshold.
