Any test in EchoExam can be printed and provided to learners as a physical copy. Choose from several customizations based on your needs.
The ability to print tests from EchoExam must be turned on for your account / organization. To have printing tests enabled, contact your Account or Customer Success Representative.
Print Your Tests From EchoExam
- From a web browser, go to your region's login page:
- Enter your email address and click Sign In.
- If you are part of multiple institutions, from the dropdown, choose your institution and click Sign In.
- Enter your password and click Sign In.
- From the My Library tab, select Tests from the menu.
- Select the three vertical dots to open the action menu on the test you want to print.
- Select Print.
The Print Test window opens defaulted to the Options tab.
- From the Options tab, you can
- Add Instructions for learners. This is any additional information you want to include for test takers.
- Optionally, you can choose to save the instructions to your preferences for other printed tests.
- Choose the number of Versions to print from 1 to 26.
To ensure the best experience, only two versions are displayed in the preview. All versions will be included when printing.
- Toggle Randomize Answers.
This scrambles the order of the answer options if more than one version is chosen. Each version will have the answer options in a different, random order. It is disabled by default.

This scrambles the order of the questions. Questions are randomly reordered in the test. It is disabled by default.
- Choose the Answer Options Label from the drop-down.
This indicates how multiple choice, multiple select, and true / false (including modified true / false) answer options are labeled. Choose from capital letters, lowercase letters, or numbers. Capital letters are the default.
- Toggle the Additional Settings options.
- Display question instructions - Turns on preset instructions based on the question type. It is disabled by default.
- Display points - Turns on the points in parenthesis after the question number but before the question instructions. It is disabled by default.

Leave answer space - Turns on a space for learners to answer the question. It is disabled by default.
- Displays a blank line before the question if the learner must respond with a selection from a list.
- If the learner must respond with a number, word(s), or diagram, a space below the question is displayed. The style and size displayed depend on what was set for the question.
- Writing is the default, and lines are added under the question for learner responses.
- Drawing puts a box under the question for the learner to answer with diagrams or equations.
- Toggle the Answer Key options.
- Print answer key(s) - This prints a copy of the instructor's answer key for each test version. It is enabled by default.
- Include Points - This includes the points value for the question with the answer key entry. If Print answer key(s) is off, this option is disabled. It is enabled by default.
- Include metadata - This includes the metadata values for each question with the answer key entry. If Print answer key(s) is off, this option is disabled. It is enabled by default.
- Include rationale - This includes the rationale for each question. If Print answer key(s) is off, this option is disabled. It is enabled by default.
- From the Style tab, you can
- Choose the Paper Size from the drop-down.
This allows you to choose the paper size you are printing with.
- Choose the Layout from the drop-down.
When set to Compact, it shrinks the text size and decreases the line spacing to minimize the total page count of the printed test.
- Toggle the Images options.
- Scale images with text - When enabled, images on questions will scale to display full-size on the page. When disabled, images are displayed as configured in the question. It is enabled by default.
- Display Alt Text as image caption - When enabled, any alt text for an image is displayed under the image. It is enabled by default.
- Toggle the Page Numbers options.
- Include page numbers - When enabled, the page numbers print at the bottom of the page. It is enabled by default.
- Include total page count - When enabled, the current page out of total pages is displayed. If Include page numbers is OFF, this option is disabled. It is enabled by default.
- Choose the Paper Size from the drop-down.
- Click Print.
Your browser's print dialog opens. Select your printer and configure any additional options available for your browser.
Click Cancel to close the Print Test window and return to your Tests.
The printed test includes the following:

- An entry area for the learner’s name and the test version.
- The test name at the top of the page.
- The question instructions after the question number and points (if applicable).
- A bubble sheet, if it was enabled when creating a blank test or using the test generator.
