Who can add media to a collection? Collection Managers and any collection member with Add and Upload permission for the collection. EchoVideo administrators can add media to any collection.
If an administrator disables the library for students, students cannot add media to the collection or copy media from it. They can still participate fully in Collections and have any Access Level, including Manager. However, they will not see the Add Media (or Copy) options in their collections as described in this article.
There are three ways to add media to your collection:
- Enter the collection and click Add Media.
- From the Media Tile button in your library, click Add To Collection, then identify the collection to which you want to add it.
- Share to the collection from the Media Details page. These are the instructions provided below.
Click on the media tile from your Library to open the Media Details page. The Publishing tab has your options for sharing the media.
Collections is located under Added To.
Adding Media to a Collection
Once media is added to the collection, all members can view it. Some members may also be able to download, copy, or post media from the collection to other locations.
You may or may not be able to remove the media from the collection after adding it; remove media permissions in collections are assigned separately from add media permissions.
To add media to a collection from the Media Details page
- Select the media tile of the item you want to add.
The Media Details page opens.
- Click Publishing.
The Publishing tab opens.
- Select Collections.
- Click Add to a Collection.

The drop-down list shows only those collections where you can add media, as shown in the figure below.
- If the collection you want does not appear at first, begin typing the name of the collection where you want to add this media. If it does not appear, you do not have Add & Upload permissions to that collection.
- Choose the collection you want from the list.
- Click Done.
- If appropriate, repeat these steps to add this media to another collection.
The media is immediately added to the collection, and the collection now appears in the Collections list.
Removing Media From a Collection
The Collection area of the Media Details page allows you to remove media from any collections it resides in, but only if you have Remove media permissions in the collection. If you do not have this permission, you will not see the X button for removing the media as described below.
Alternatively, if you have permission, you can remove media from a collection via the Collection page itself.
To remove media from a collection
- Select the media tile of the item you want to add.
The Media Details page opens.
- Click Publishing.
The Publishing tab opens.
- Select Collections.
- Click X next to the collection from which you want to remove this media, as shown in the figure below.
The media is immediately removed from the collection, and collection members can no longer view it.
