Classes exist to hold content that students can view. Class Groups can be created to group classes together with similar subject matter, or to help direct students to the best order in which to view the class media.
Each class can contain one video and one presentation, OR one interactive media. Class Groups allow you to put these classes together in a larger set so that you can associate as many pieces of media together as you need to, into a single class group topic and order.
Class Groups, like classes, must have EITHER a Name or a Date / Time. They do not need both but they do need one or the other.
Unlike classes, however, class groups themselves do not contain media. Class Groups contain classes; the classes within the group hold the media.
All NEW class groups appear at the BOTTOM of the class list by default.
After creating your class group, click Reorder at the top of the class list to enter "class list editing mode". Click-and-drag classes into (or out of) the class group. You can also drag the class group itself to a new location in the list, or use the up / down arrows to the right of the group to move it to a new location.
To create a class group
- Navigate to the class list for a section, either by clicking a Course tile on the Courses tab or via a link in your LMS course.
- Click NEW CLASS GROUP, located immediately above the class list and identified in the above figure.
The New Class Group dialog box appears.
- Enter a Name for the Class Group.
This is not required but is recommended, to provide your grouping of classes with a clear topic. If you do not enter a Name, you must enter a Start Date / Time and Duration. - Enter a Start Date and Start time, and select a Duration.
This is optional and may not apply to the class group if the classes / content do not apply to a single class or lecture. However, you must provide either a Name or a Date / Time. - Enter a Description if desired. This is optional.
- Click OK.
Your class group is created and appears AT THE BOTTOM of the class list.
Click Reorder from the top left of the class list to drag classes into the class group, and to change the class group's location in the list as shown in the figure below.
