The term "video" or "video-media" is used below and throughout the online help, but refers broadly to a piece of video media, audio media, or pre-recorded media with dual streams. Interactive media and presentations are referred to specifically as appropriate.
Classes are basically buckets to hold media for students to view and interact with. Each class can hold one video and one presentation OR one piece of interactive media (video with embedded polls).
The information in this article is for ADDING media to classes. If you need to REPLACE media in a class, you can remove it from the class first, then use the plus sign to add a different one, OR you can post to the class from your Library or from a Collection (if you have Post permission).
If you need to provide additional media to a class that already has one of that type, create a New Class to hold the media. You can give it the same date / time and title as the other related class. Optionally, you can create a Class Group to group these classes with related content together.
If there is a slot available to add media, you will see a blue plus icon for the class in the class list. Click a plus icon to add media to the class.
In the above figure, notice that the raspberry plus sign sits in different locations. This indicates the KIND of media that can be added to that class from the class list.
If the raspberry plus sign is in the middle and there is NO other media in the class, you can add any media to it; video, presentation, or interactive media. The menu you see is shown in the below figure.
You may see dark gray icons in the class list. This indicates either a holding slot for future scheduled recordings or media that has been made unavailable for students. You cannot remove or replace the placeholder for future schedules until the recording is complete and exists in the class. Only presentations can be added to classes with placeholders.
If the class has a video (or placeholder) and no presentation, click the plus icon in the presentation slot to add a presentation to the class, as shown below. You can Upload a presentation file, select one from your Library, or create a brand-new presentation in EchoVideo.
If the class has a presentation and no video (and no gray placeholder for a scheduled recording), click the plus icon in the video slot to add video-media to the class. You can select from your content library, or upload a file from your local computer or shared drive (such as GoogleDrive).
A note about Public links to your course: If your EchoVideo course uses Public-type Access Links to the course to allow anonymous users to view course materials, they will NOT be able to view interactive media classes. Anonymous users cannot respond to polls, making the video portions gated on those polls not viewable to these users. The same is true for polling slides in presentations, however non-polling slides in a deck are not gated on the polling slides. Anonymous users can see the non-polling slides in the deck but cannot see or respond to the polling slides.
