EchoVideo: Recommended Browsers

EchoVideo is a web-based application, and as such, does not have specific OS requirements. It does, however, have certain browser requirements. While we cannot test every version of every browser, we do test the most popular browsers and the most recent versions. There may also be specific configurations you need to check or change to use EchoVideo successfully, depending on whether you access EchoVideo through an LMS (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, etc.) and whether you are viewing your Library or an EchoVideo section home page (class list), or accessing content through those pages. 

EchoVideo is in the process of removing our dependency on third-party cookies when viewing media outside of our platform. Cookies are not required to view content in the updated Player embedded within other web pages, unless you are viewing it on certain mobile devices, especially those running iOS.

We recommend you continue to allow third-party cookies in your browser, as viewing content within EchoVideo through an LMS / VLE (your Library or an EchoVideo course) still requires cookies, as may your mobile device. This occurs because our cookie-less presentation approach relies on Media Source Extensions, which are not supported by some iOS browsers at this time. If you are using one of these browsers and Cross-Site Tracking and / or Cookies are not allowed, you will see a message directing you to enable them.

Disable Ad and Wide-Spectrum Blockers

Various ad-blocking and wide-spectrum blocking programs will interfere with portions of the EchoVideo interface and functionality and sometimes prevent us from collecting accurate viewing data for media. This can result in you not receiving proper credit for watching videos on our platform.

In particular, we have encountered issues with the following products, but there may be others:

  • AdBlock Plus
  • PrivacyBadger
  • uBlock Origin
  • SuperBlock

We certainly want our users to be able to block unwanted ads or user tracking on their browsers. But we strongly suggest that you disable these blockers for the EchoVideo domain that applies to your region (listed below). If possible, you should "safe list" or "white list" the EchoVideo domain in the blocking product you are using. Refer to the blocker product's user documentation for instructions.

Your EchoVideo domain depends on your region (where you are) and will be one of the following:

  • echo360.org (US)
  • echo360.net.au (Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Pacific Rim)
  • echo360.org.uk (Great Britain, Iceland, Europe)
  • echo360.ca (Canada)

EchoVideo cannot support all 3rd party speed controller plugins. The player's built-in variable-speed playback (VSP) should be used and controlled via the existing keyboard shortcuts.

Supported Browsers for LIVE streaming

Live streams are tested on and supported for viewing using all of the above-listed browsers.

When viewing the Live stream on a mobile device, the EchoVideo Mobile Apps do not currently support Live streaming, but Live streams can be viewed in the native browser.
