Did you land on this page and don't know what to do?
If you're an existing Echo360 user and you've never seen this page before, it's probably because you normally enter Echo360 through your institution/university portal. OR you enter through a link in your LMS/VLE course (from Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace, or Sakai).
So to start, decide if you really need or want to log directly into Echo360, or if you should go back through your LMS/VLE or university portal. Otherwise, read on!
If you are not sure if you have a login or not, it's easy to find out.
Enter your university/institution email address into the Email field.
One of the following things will happen:
- You are automatically taken to an institutional portal login page. This happens if your institution uses SSO or single-sign-on. Once you log in there, you should be returned to Echo360.
- The page changes to show a Password field. This happens if you are a registered user and have a password in the system. If you don't know your password, use the Click here to reset link, and a password reset link will be emailed to the address you entered.
- The page changes to show a notification above the Email field indicating that you are a registered user but you do not have a password. This is shown in the below figure.
This is COMMON for LMS/VLE users (whose institutions do not use an SSO, mentioned in the first bullet). LMS/VLEs provide Echo360 with user names and email addresses, but not passwords (for obvious reasons). If you NEED to establish a direct-login to Echo360, use the link in the email sent to you to create your Echo360 password. - If the email address you entered isn't in our system, you will get a message indicating that you are not a registered user. If the email address you entered is correct and you think this is a mistake, contact your system administrator for help.
Final note - if you are an LMS/VLE user but want to create a direct-login password for Echo360, it does NOT have to be the same as your LMS/VLE password. Only the email addresses have to match. Your Echo360 password can be anything you want, as long as it meets our complexity requirements.
Do you need a password?
If your institution uses SSO (single-sign-on), and you normally log in through the university portal, the answer is likely "no". All of Echo360 access, including the main platform, the mobile apps, and Universal Capture software all support logging in through your institution's SSO.
If you don't know if this is your situation, see the first bullet above and enter your email into the login page. If you are taken to the university portal login and returned, you have an SSO login. No need for a separate Echo360 password.
If you are an LMS/VLE user (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace, or Sakai) but do NOT have an SSO login, you will need a direct login password to use the Echo360 Mobile Apps or Universal Capture: Personal software. This password will also work on the portal login, shown at the top of this page.
If you do not use Echo360 through an LMS/VLE, and do not have an SSO login, you have probably been directed to log directly into Echo360. And you probably also received a Registration Email for setting up your account. If you missed the email, or you just don't remember your password, use the reset password link on the login page to establish a new one.
Mobile Apps Login Loop
If you have an SSO login and normally log in to your institution portal to access Echo360, and you are trying to log into the Mobile Apps, you may find yourself stuck in a login-loop.
Here is what happens:
You enter your email, then log in through the Institution login page, but are then pushed back to the main Echo360 login screen instead of entering the application.
If this describes what you are seeing, contact your help desk or system administrator. There is a change that the administrator must make on their side to address the problem before you can use the Echo360 Mobile App.
