If you have reached the page shown below and are not sure how to sign in, this article will help you identify the correct EchoVideo login method for your account.
If you are an existing EchoVideo user and have never seen this page before, it is probably because you normally access EchoVideo through your Institution portal or a link in your LMS / VLE course (from Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace, or Sakai).
To start, decide whether you need or want to log in directly to EchoVideo or go back through your LMS / VLE or university portal.
If you are not sure whether you have a login, it is easy to find out.
Enter your institution email address into the Email field.
One of the following things will happen:
- If your institution uses SSO or single sign-on, you will be automatically taken to an institutional portal login page. Once you log in, you should be taken back to EchoVideo.
- The page changes to show a Password field. This happens if you are a registered user and have a password in the system. If you do not know your password, use the Click here to reset link, and a password reset link will be emailed to the address you entered.
- The page changes to show a password error notification above the Email field, indicating that you are a registered user but do not have a password.
This is common among LMS / VLE users (whose institutions do not use SSO, as mentioned in the first bullet). LMS / VLEs provide EchoVideo with usernames and email addresses, but not passwords (for obvious reasons). If you need to establish a direct login to EchoVideo, use the link in the email to create your EchoVideo password. - If the email address you entered isn't in our system, you will get a message indicating that you are not a registered user. If the email address you entered is correct and you think this is a mistake, contact your system administrator for help.
Final note: If you are an LMS / VLE user but want to create a direct EchoVideo login password, it does not have to match your LMS / VLE password. Only the email addresses have to match. Your EchoVideo password can be anything you want as long as it meets our complexity requirements.
Do You Need a Password?
If your institution uses SSO (single sign-on) and you normally log in through the university portal, you do not need a password. You do not need a password if you are an LMS / VLE user.
You need a password to use the EchoVideo Mobile Apps, Universal Capture (Classroom or Personal), or the Windows PowerPoint Ribbon Add-on.

Creating an EchoVideo Password
This section assumes that you already access EchoVideo through your university portal or an LMS / VLE. If you are a direct-login user, you should already have set your password during the Registration and Login process.
The easiest way to create your password is to use the Account Settings page, as described in the procedure below.
Alternatively, you can enter your email address on the portal login page (echo360.net.au, echo360.org.uk, echo360.org, echo360.ca - depending on where you live), then use either the reset password link provided there or submit your email address to log in and use the automatically generated email to set your password. See Logging In if you need more information.
Creating an EchoVideo password does not affect your LMS / VLE or SSO login. You will continue to use those credentials as you always have. The EchoVideo password is strictly for accessing EchoVideo Mobile Apps, Universal Capture Classroom or Personal, or the Windows PowerPoint Ribbon Add-on.
To create an EchoVideo password:
- Enter EchoVideo as you normally do, via a link to EchoVideo from the LMS or other institution platform.
- Click the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) then select Account Settings.
-
In the password area of the User Info section, click Create Password.
If the button reads Change Password, you already have an EchoVideo password. If you do not know what it is, navigate to echo360.org (or your regional URL), enter your email address, and click SUBMIT. Then click the Click here to reset link on that page.
See Changing your Password for additional information, if necessary. - In the Create password dialog box that appears, enter your EchoVideo password, then confirm it. Passwords should
- Be at least 9 characters.
- Avoid single dictionary words (ch@racter substitutions do not h3lp either - too easy to guess).
- Use multiple words, foreign words, or an uncommon phrase - include letters / numbers / characters to improve strength.
- Avoid alphanumeric or keyboard sequences such as abcd, 1234, qwerty, 09876.
- Avoid your name, location, or dates associated with you (including recent / future years).
- It can be the same as or different than your LMS / VLE or institution password, as long as you remember what it is and it meets the EchoVideo complexity requirements.
- When finished, click Save.
Your email address and the password you just created will be your login for the Mobile App, the PowerPoint Ribbon Add-On, or Universal Capture: Personal or Classroom.
Mobile Apps Login Loop
If you have an SSO login and normally log in to your institution portal to access EchoVideo, you may find yourself stuck in a login loop when trying to log in to the Mobile Apps.
Here is what happens:
You enter your email and log in through the Institution login page, but are redirected back to the main EchoVideo login screen instead of being taken to the application.
If this describes what you are seeing, contact your help desk or system administrator. The administrator must make a change on their end to address the problem before you can use the EchoVideo Mobile App.
