The EchoVideo mobile app includes a built-in media player that lets you view recordings, presentations, and interactive media directly on your iOS or Android device. While watching content, you can control playback, access transcripts and captions, participate in classroom activities, and adjust your viewing experience without leaving the player.
The tools available depend on the type of content you are viewing and the features your instructor or institution has enabled. Some options, such as discussions, polling, or transcripts, may not be available for every recording.
Media Player Controls
The mobile media player provides the controls you need to watch and interact with course content. They are described below the image, in the order in which they appear, from left to right:
Play or Pause
Use the Play / Pause button to control the playback of the content. You can also click anywhere within the player to play / pause content.
Volume
The volume control button and slider let you adjust playback volume. You can also click the icon to mute playback.
Jump to a Different Point in the Recording
Drag the playback position indicator along the timeline to move to a different point in the recording.
For interactive media that contains polling questions, you can only navigate through portions of the recording that have already been unlocked. Any unanswered polling question must be answered before playback can continue.
Closed Captions
The CC (closed captions) button works like a toggle to show / hide the closed captions for the media. It is grayed out if the media lacks closed captions. Use the Settings menu option for subtitles / CC, described below, to control how captions appear.
Confusion Flags
Flags let you mark locations and material you find confusing or items the instructor may need to explain further to you or the class. Flagging content sends a notification to the instructor, letting them know that a student had a problem with the material. The notification flag includes the presentation's location when it was flagged.
Bookmarks
Bookmarks let you mark locations in media so you can find them quickly and easily without having to page through or scrub through the media.
Settings
The Settings button opens a menu, as shown in the following image and described below.
Quality
Use the Quality selection menu to switch from the default Auto bandwidth option to select between Full and Lower bandwidth, as needed for your network speed / connection.
Subtitles / CC
Select the Subtitle / CC menu to customize how closed captions appear during playback. You can change the caption Location (Top or Bottom), Font Size (Small, Medium, or Large), and Contrast (Light Mode or Dark Mode) to improve readability based on your viewing preferences.
Speed
Use the Speed menu to adjust playback speed. You can play back the media at the following intervals: 0.5x, 0.75x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.75x, and 2x.
Copyright
Use the Copyright menu to view the media's copyright information. Click Read full terms to open a new page with your institution's Copyright Policy displayed.
If your instructor has chosen to enforce copyright acknowledgment, you will see and be prompted to accept the copyright notice before playing the content every time you view it.

Channel Selector
Some recordings include multiple media channels, such as different video or audio inputs or presentation slides. Use the Channel Selector, as shown in the image below, to switch between the available channels at any time during playback, allowing you to view the content from the perspective that best supports your learning.
