Study Aids in EchoVideo provide students with structured, high-value learning materials, such as Summaries, FAQs, Quizzes, and Study Cards, directly within the player experience. These resources help learners reinforce key concepts, review content efficiently, and test their knowledge without leaving the video environment.
Instructors can provide Study Aids for any media in their library, either by creating them manually or by using AskEcho (Echo360’s AI-powered assistant) to generate them automatically.
What are Study Aids?
Study Aids are supplemental resources attached to a specific video or audio file. They appear in the Study Aids panel of the EchoVideo player and include:
- Summary: Concise overview of the main points covered in the media.
- FAQs: A list of frequently asked questions and answers derived from the content.
- Study Cards: Digital flashcards featuring terms and definitions for active recall.
- Practice Quiz: Multiple-choice questions designed to test comprehension of the material.
Create Study Aids
There are two ways to populate Study Aids for your media, both of which are managed from the Study Aids tab on the Media Details Page.
Manual Creation
Instructors and media owners can manually create and edit Study Aids. This is ideal for instructors who want full pedagogical control over the content or for those who do not have AskEcho turned on.
- Navigate to your Media Library.
- Open the Media Details Page for the desired media.
Select Study Aids, as shown in the image below.
Summary is the default option.
- Select the sub-tab for the resource you wish to create (Summary, FAQs, Study Cards, or Quiz).
Manually enter your text into the provided fields and click Save.
For Study Cards and Quizzes, you can use the Add Another option to build your set.
Automated Generation with AskEcho
If your institution has turned on AskEcho, you can automatically generate Study Aids using AI. AskEcho analyzes the transcript of your media to produce drafts in seconds.
- From the Study Aids tab on the Media Details page, select a resource sub-tab.
Click Generate, as shown in the image below.
AskEcho will process the transcript and populate the fields with suggested content.
Review and Edit: We recommend reviewing all AI-generated content for accuracy. You can edit the generated text, add new items, or delete individual entries at any time to better suit your instructional needs.
Student Visibility
By default, Study Aids are visible to instructors and media owners only. This allows you to vet or edit the content before sharing it with your class.
- Managing Visibility: Within the Study Aids section of the Media Details Page, ensure the content is saved and that the institution-level Study Aids in the Classroom Player toggle is turned on by your administrator.
- Student Experience: Once turned on and content is generated, students will see a Study Aids icon in the media player's sidebar.
- Students only see the specific Study Aid types (e.g., just the Summary) that have content available.
- If no Study Aids have been generated or manually added, the Study Aids panel remains hidden for students.
