Improvements and Fixes
These Release Notes contain a summary of the changes made for the April 24, 2026, release of EchoPoll. For changes made in previous deployments, visit the Deployment Notes section of our Knowledge Base or contact support@echo360.com.
SSO Certificate Update (SAML Metadata Refresh Recommended)
As part of this release, we are rotating SAML certificates and updating our metadata to maintain a secure and reliable authentication experience. No service disruption is expected, and existing certificates will remain valid through May 4th to allow for a smooth transition.
Customers are advised to refresh or re-import Echo360 SAML metadata in their Identity Provider (IdP) after the release. Environments using manual certificate configuration should contact Support to obtain the updated metadata.
Whiteboarding Tools Retired
Whiteboarding tools are being retired so we can focus innovation on core interactive polling, engagement, and assessment. Support is available to help customers during the transition, and we recommend pairing EchoPoll+ with your preferred digital whiteboard solution.
Improvements
This release is packed with accessibility enhancements, compliance fixes, and usability upgrades across the EchoPoll platform. We have addressed everything from high-zoom reflow issues to keyboard navigation, color contrast, and more - making EchoPoll a better experience for all users.
Major Accessibility Remediation & Compliance
We have delivered a comprehensive set of accessibility improvements to meet WCAG 2.2 AA and Title II standards, ensuring EchoPoll is usable for everyone, regardless of ability or device.
- We remediated core accessibility issues across EchoPoll, including keyboard navigation, proper labeling, color contrast, error messaging, and live region announcements.
- We improved video previews, poll deck card grouping, page titles, and ensured unique accessible names and proper heading structure.
- We addressed accessible labels, combo box roles, descriptive button names, modal focus, table accessibility, keyboard navigation, and more.
- We addressed specific accessibility findings, including reflow, persistent labels, accessible names, and regression coverage.
High-Zoom & Responsive Design Fixes
We have made EchoPoll fully functional and visually consistent at high zoom levels and on small screens, eliminating horizontal scrolling and content cut-off.
Visual Accessibility & Contrast
We improved color contrast and visual indicators to help users with low vision or color blindness easily identify and interact with all UI elements.
- Update Learner Answer Option Components Selected/Hover/etc. States: We updated the default, selected, and hover states for answer options to meet minimum contrast ratios, improving the learner experience.
Keyboard Navigation & Custom Controls
We made EchoPoll more accessible for keyboard users by improving navigation, focus management, and custom control operability.
- Implement keyboard controls for the Learner on the Hotspot canvas: Learners can now navigate and interact with hotspot questions using only the keyboard, with ARIA live region updates and visual crosshair indicators.
- Allow Session Keyboard Shortcuts to be disabled: Instructors can now disable session keyboard shortcuts, preventing accidental triggers and improving accessibility for speech input users.
Accessible Images & Alt Text
We have added the ability for instructors to set and edit alt text for image resources, ensuring images are accessible to screen readers and meet compliance standards.
- Add Alt Text Setting Option for Image Resources: Instructors can now set descriptive alt text for images in the resource library, which is used by default in poll decks and course images.
General Accessibility Improvements
We addressed a variety of smaller accessibility issues, including ARIA labeling, focus management, and compliance with audit findings.
- Accessibility: Update aria-labels for New Session/Assignment Page: We ensured all form controls have programmatically associated labels, improving screen reader and speech input usability.
Fixes
- To ensure license management, SSO, LMS integrations, poll deck editing, reporting, and UI/UX are rock solid, we rolled up fixes for seat count resets, dual certificate SSO, course sync, session management, live polling reconnects, PDF/report accuracy, and more.
- We improved everything from live chart accuracy and hotspot responses to AI slide generation, accessibility in answer modals, PDF report content, assignment cover updates, special character handling, attendance sync, course visibility, results calculation, notifications, and hardware compatibility.
- To solve issues with MathType content not rendering or exporting correctly, we improved equation display in all user flows, added graceful handling for malformed input, and ensured consistency across browsers and platforms.
- We addressed problems with users being added to orgs via LMS sync, LTI links, and manual invites, ensuring correct license assignment, registration flows, and prevention of duplicate accounts across organizations.
- We fixed problems with MathType brackets/parentheses, improved equation rendering in live polling and reports, and made sure the delete option works for long equations without breaking anything else.
