If you have an Inkdoc that you want to copy and reuse for other new Inkdocs, use the Save as a Template feature.
Template Limitations and Restrictions
When publishing a new template, keep in mind:
- You must have Admin permissions to publish and remove templates that you or another Inkdoc administrator created.
- Admins cannot remove the EchoInk Platform Templates or any custom templates developed for the organization.
- Templates are a snapshot of an Inkdoc at a given point in time. They include all pages, build profiles, and most assets present in the Inkdoc at the time the template is created. Templates do not include uploaded videos that are hosted by EchoInk.
- Everyone who is part of the Inkdoc receives access when a template is created.
- Habitat does not maintain a connection between a template and any Inkdocs built from that template. This means that Habitat does not automatically update Inkdocs with any changes made to their parent template; instead, you must manually edit each Inkdoc.
Create an Inkdoc Template
To use the existing Inkdoc as a template, you use the Save as a Template feature.
- In the top bar, click Export and Distribute > Export and Embed.
- In the Template area, click Save as a Template to access the Save as a Template page.
- Enter the template title, author, and description.
- Edit the template thumbnail. Hover your mouse pointer over the template thumbnail and click X in the upper-right corner. Click the + icon and select a new template thumbnail.
- Click Save.
The new template displays in the Template area.
Delete a Template
- In the top bar, click Export and Distribute > Export and Embed.
In the Template area, click Remove.
Habitat confirms that you want to delete the template.
- Click OK.
This action removes the template from the Create a Project list. Habitat authors in your organization can no longer use the template to create other Inkdocs.
