You can set a configuration option to embed video files in the content distributed to EchoInk mobile users. Habitat bundles downloaded videos so users can play them while the device is offline.
- Click Configure Project > Project Setup > Project Info.
- Set Enable Offline Video for EchoInk Reading Apps to On.
When you enable this option, the EchoInk app downloads videos to the user’s library when the user downloads the EchoInk title, rather than streaming them when the user wants to view them. This functionality does not apply to videos hosted on third-party sites such as YouTube and Vimeo, which are always streamed.
If you do not see the Enable Offline Video for EchoInk Reading Apps toggle, contact your organization’s EchoInk administrator or your EchoInk representative for help with this configuration option.
During the Publish process, Habitat checks that all embedded video links are valid and
displays an error if it encounters broken links. You must fix all embedded video issues to successfully distribute the content.
The offline video functionality works only for content distributed to EchoInk mobile users.
Some video files may be very large, affecting a user’s mobile device's performance. We recommend thoroughly testing content with embedded videos across various devices before publishing.
