When exporting Inkdocs to HTML, Word, or PDF, issues such as non-functional widgets or cut-off content can occur if configurations are not properly aligned. These problems are often caused by outdated widget modules or by limitations in converting responsive layouts to fixed formats. Understanding these factors helps ensure your exported content displays as intended across formats.
Verify Widget Module Versions For HTML
The HTML export functionality requires the Inkdoc to use the latest module versions of the Inkling standard and Assessment widgets. Otherwise, the widgets in the resulting HTML files will not work.
Contact your organization’s EchoInk Module Administrator to confirm the installed module versions for your organization. See also Upgrade EchoInk widget modules in Inkdocs in the EchoInk Administrator Guide.
Prevent Element and Image Cutoff
When exporting to print formats, such as Word .docx and PDF files, certain elements and images may appear cut off or shortened in the final output. For example, a large table may be missing columns, or an image may be cropped on one side. This behavior is due to the conversion process changing elements intended for a responsive digital display into a generally less responsive, fixed print display.
You can format elements with EchoInk’s export-screenshot class to correct this behavior.
This class ensures that Habitat exports a screenshot of the element, which ensures a more predictable view of the content. For information on adding this class to your Habitat configuration, contact your EchoInk representative.
