Habitat can export to two print formats: Word (.docx) and PDF. This enables you to:
- Give the document to users who do not have access to Inkling.
- Use the document for content reviews, such as copyediting, translation, and localization.
If you have at least Edit and Comment permissions and your project administrator has implemented a print format for export, you can use the Export functionality to create and download printable files.
Understand Print Format Limitations
Because the conversion process converts interactive Inkdocs into static documents, certain interactive elements, including widgets, audio and video files, and some links, will not work in print formats such as .docx and PDF. Instead, a placeholder appears to indicate the location of the interactive element in the digital version.
Habitat is not a full-featured print layout tool, so projects exported to .docx or PDF will reflow algorithmically onto the print page. We recommend using a print-optimized desktop publishing tool, such as Microsoft Word or InDesign, to refine the final print layout after exporting your files from Habitat.
