The Show Hide widget allows the user to hide and reveal a short snippet of content, typically used as the answer to a self-test question prompt. The hidden content can include text, one image, or both. You can change the text prompts for buttons that appear when content is hidden or revealed.
Text hidden inside a Show Hide widget will not appear in users’ search results, and users will also not be able to anchor their notes or highlights to any text contained within the widget. Because of these limitations, we do not recommend using the Show Hide widget to truncate the screen display of large sections of body content.
- Drag the Show Hide widget from the Add Pattern sidebar to the page.
- Click Edit Widget.
Optionally, edit the Button Normal State.
This is the label the reader sees before the button is clicked. The default label is Question.
Optionally, edit the Button Active State.
This is the label the reader sees after the button is clicked. The default label is Answer.
- In Answer Text, enter the text that displays when the reader clicks the button.
- Optionally, click the Add Image icon to add an image to the answer.
Optionally, check Display image above answer text in the SETTINGS sidebar to display the answer text below the image.
If the answer includes a long URL, the link appears truncated on devices with small screens. We recommend using a tool like TinyURL or Bitly to shorten the URL length.
- Click Save & Close.
