Use Habitat’s Edit Content mode to add and style EchoInk widgets.
A widget is an interactive element that you can add directly to your content. These components are part of the page, so when your end users view the content on the web or on mobile devices, they can interact with the widget as part of the main reading flow.
Your Habitat Project Administrator determines the widgets that are available to you in the Add Pattern sidebar. This might include the EchoInk standard widgets and any custom widgets your organization has developed for your specific authoring needs.
EchoInk offers a framework for developing custom widgets. The framework enables widgets to display a custom editing interface, allowing Habitat authors to configure the widget when they add it to a project. Contact your EchoInk representative for more information.
The EchoInk Widget Library
EchoInk makes a set of standard widgets available in the Add Pattern sidebar of Habitat projects when they are created from an EchoInk template. The standard collection provides the following widgets:
- Annotated Image
- Flashcard
- Multiple Choice
- Show Hide
- Slideline
- Slideshow
- Timeline
EchoInk also provides the Inkling Assessment widget to test your users’ knowledge of your distributed content. Use the Assessment Scores report to review test results.
Each widget has a dedicated editing interface that enables you to add images and text, such as titles, captions, and labels. Most widgets have a SETTINGS sidebar on the left that provides additional configuration options.
This article provides examples of EchoInk's standard widgets and information about both the end-user experience and editing interface in Habitat.
The text inside widgets will not appear in users’ search results, and users will also not be able to anchor their notes or highlights to any text contained within the widget.
