You add video files to your project using patterns available in the Add Pattern sidebar on the right side of the Habitat interface. Inkling supports various video formats, including MP4, MPEG2, WAV, MOV, and WebM.
Habitat saves uploaded video files to the project’s Media Library so you can reuse them on other pages.
Habitat stores video files with the specific project, not for all projects in your organization. If you want to reuse video files in another project, you must re-upload them to that project.
If you need to reuse many videos in another project or across multiple projects, contact your Inkling representative. He or she can recommend service providers who can help you with this task.
Understand Using Video Files
Video file size cannot exceed 100 MB.
Be sure to upload videos formatted in an industry-standard video codec (input format). The Inkling platform supports many video codecs and can play videos in any supported browser.
The video pattern in Habitat only supports videos hosted on Vimeo, YouTube, or Inkling.
Playing HTML5-formatted videos from other hosting services requires a custom pattern. For more information, contact your Inkling representative.
Vimeo and YouTube allow video authors to set various privacy options.
If the video’s author has restricted where the video can be embedded, you might be prohibited from embedding the video in Habitat. If the video’s author has restricted viewing access, you may be able to embed the video, but it won’t play in digital readers or browsers. See the Vimeo Privacy settings overview and the YouTube video privacy settings help topics.
Confirm whether you want Inkling mobile users to be able to view certain videos even when the device is offline.
If your Habitat Project Administrator has configured Inkling-embedded video functionality for the project, Inkling mobile users can view EchoInk-hosted video content while offline.
