This article describes how to manage and navigate pages.
You can use a context menu to rename, delete, add, and duplicate pages from the Table of Contents sidebar. Right-click on a page to access this context menu.
To revise the project’s structure, see Configure the Table of Contents.
Add a New Page
There are several ways to add a new page to your project.
Use the + icon
In Edit mode, scroll to the top or bottom of your current page.
- To add a page before the current page: Click the + icon at the top of the current page.
- To add a page after the current page: Click the + icon at the bottom of the current page.
- Habitat prompts you to save your changes before navigating to the new page. Click Save and Continue.
Use the TOC Context Menu
- Right-click on a page title in the Table of Contents sidebar.
Click Add Page in the context menu.
Habitat inserts a new page immediately after the selected page.
- Enter the title of your new page in the text field and click Enter. You can cancel your changes by leaving the text field blank and clicking Enter.
Name or Rename a Page
- Right-click on a page title in the Table of Contents sidebar.
Click Rename in the context menu.
You can also rename pages using the Inspector on the Edit Structure page. See Configure the Table of Contents.
- Enter the new name and click Enter.
- Click Save.
Delete a Page
- Right-click on a page title in the Table of Contents sidebar.
Click Delete in the context menu.
Once you delete a page, you cannot use Habitat to recover it. Select Support from the services dropdown menu in the top-right corner to recover a deleted page.
- Click OK.
Duplicate a Page
You can make an exact copy of any page in your project. This can be helpful if you would like to use the same page as a template for multiple pages.
- Right-click on a page title in the Table of Contents sidebar.
- Click Duplicate in the context menu.
- Enter a title and click Enter.
- This will create an exact copy immediately below the selected page.
You can then make changes to the duplicated content, just as you would to any other page.
Move Between Pages
In the Table of Contents sidebar, you can open any page by clicking on its name. Another quick way to move to the next or previous page is to click the name of that page at the top (previous) or bottom (next) of the current page. Be sure to scroll to the very top or bottom of the page to see the names of the previous and next pages.
You must save your changes to a page before navigating away from it, or they will be discarded.
