The Project Navigation Bar, located at the top of an open Habitat project, provides quick access to essential tools and project areas. The icons and options available depend on your permissions and support tasks such as editing content, configuring settings, reviewing errors, managing team members, and publishing. From this top bar, you can also save changes, track page activity, and return to the dashboard at any time.
Project Navigation Bar
The black project navigation bar, or top bar, stretches across the top of Habitat when you open a project.
The top bar icons you see depend on your project permissions.

| Project navigation icons | Click a navigation icon to access a specific area of your Habitat project or return to the dashboard. |
| Image, title, author | View the cover image, title, and author of the project. |
| Page Activity | View the date, time, and author of revisions. To view older versions of the content, click another entry on the list. |
| Save | Save changes you’ve made to the page. |
| Publish (on enabled projects) | Export and distribute the current revision to the project’s configured distribution methods. This button displays only when you have the appropriate permissions to publish a project. For more information, see Determine your permissions and contact the project administrator. |

Navigation Icons
After you open a project, the navigation icons are always available in the top bar. Each icon gives you access to an area of your Habitat project.

| Click Go to Dashboard to return to the dashboard, where you can create a new project and see the list of all of your projects. See Navigate the Habitat dashboard. | |
| Click Edit Content to access Edit mode. This is your main work mode, where you add and edit content, create and reply to comments, and preview content in simulated device displays. See the chapters in the Author and Publish Content unit. | |
| Click Configure Project to set up the information for the project and organize the content structure. You can also archive the project here. See Configure your project. | |
Click Customize Styles to customize the appearance of your content. This window has the following tabs:

| Click Review Errors to view the errors and warnings that need your attention. Habitat automatically generates this report each time you create a draft or release build of your project. You must correct errors before you can export or distribute a title. See Fix build errors and warnings. | |
| Click Manage Team Members to add, remove, and manage the permissions for team members. See Manage team members. | |
| Click Export and Distribute to distribute your content to the project’s configured distribution methods. See Distribute a project to users. | |
| Click Feedback to view a dashboard of all end user submitted feedback on the project. See Manage Feedback. | |
| Click View Usage to access a page on user reading metrics for a project, such as number of readers, number of views per page, and average reading time per page. See View metrics. |
Center Panel and Sidebar Icons
In Edit mode, you author and review content in WYSIWYG mode. This section describes the icons and features available in this view.
Use Undo and Redo to manage your content changes and revert to a previous state.

| The left sidebar contains the Table of Contents (TOC). It allows you to view files in the TOC by either their title or file name. Comment flags display in their respective topic in the TOC sidebar. Comment summary flags display at both TOC and chapter level. See Configure a project. | |
| The Search functionality is available at the bottom of the left sidebar, under the TOC. See Search for words or phrases. | |
| Click Show Comments to open the Comments sidebar, add comments, and reply to other reviewers’ comments. See Collaborate and review. | |
| Click Show Preview to see how the content appears when published to a desktop or mobile device. See Use Preview in Review the content. | |
| Click Device Preview to set a device preview size and font size. See Review the content. | |
| Click Show Code View to view and edit the HTML code. See Work in code mode. |
| Click Show Patterns to open the pattern sidebar. It contains HTML patterns and Inkling widgets that you use to add static and interactive content to your project. See Use Habitat patterns. | |
