There are two ways to receive access to EchoInk Habitat:
For most users, an EchoInk User Administrator or a Habitat Project Administrator sends you an invitation to join Habitat and collaborate on one or more Habitat projects.
You can also request access to Habitat. A user administrator approves or denies your request, and can optionally assign you to one or more projects during the approval process.
Accept An Invitation
- EchoInk sends you a Welcome to Habitat email with the subject title New Account Setup for EchoInk Habitat.
Click the Go to Habitat button to set a unique password.
After you set your password, Habitat opens to the dashboard, where you can access your projects and create new ones. See Navigate the Habitat dashboard.
- Optionally, access your associated EchoInk library account.
- If the email contains a Get EchoInk section, click the EchoInk account link to view your library. If the email does not include this section, your user administrator will send you a separate email listing the sites available to you.
- Your EchoInk account uses your Habitat account credentials. If the EchoInk login page appears, enter the email address and password that you use to access Habitat.
Request Access
- Download Google Chrome (www.google.com/chrome) to access Habitat on a Mac or Windows machine.
- Register for Habitat access at habitat.inkling.com/signup.
Enter your credentials and your EchoInk organization code, and click Request Access.
A user administrator approves your request. EchoInk sends you a Welcome to Habitat email with the subject title New Account Setup for EchoInk Habitat.
- Click the Sign In link in the email, or visit habitat.inkling.com.
- On the login page, enter your email address.
Create your own password when prompted.
After you set your password, Habitat opens to the dashboard, where you can access your projects and create new ones. See Navigate the Habitat dashboard.
Manage Your Password
Once you have set up your Habitat account, you can manage your password by clicking the Change password link in the services menu in Habitat. You must set a password of at least eight characters.
Habitat displays error messages if you enter an incorrect password or reuse an old password.
To maintain the security of your account, Habitat will periodically log you out and prompt you to log in again. This usually occurs every 30 days, unless your EchoInk administrator sets a different schedule.
If you have forgotten your password, click Forgot password? link on the login page. You will receive an email with instructions and a password reset link.
You must use this link within 1 hour, and you can use it only once. Otherwise, you will see a message that the link has expired. Click Send new reset link in this window if you need a new link.
