When you schedule a capture in EchoVideo, you can choose whether to request closed captions for the recording once it is published. Selecting this option helps support accessibility by providing on-screen text for viewers who need or prefer it. If captions are not needed when scheduling, you can still add, review, or edit them later on the media details page.
To turn caption schedules on or off for the institution
- Log in to EchoVideo as an administrator.
- Click the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
-
From the Settings menu, select Institution Settings.
General settings appear, and Basic Info is selected by default.
- Click Features from the middle panel.
- Scroll down to the Accessibility section of the page, shown in the figure below.
-
Click the toggle to turn the Caption Schedules feature on or off.
It is off by default.
-
Click Confirm on the warning message that appears.
If appropriate, ensure the Delay Video Availability toggle is turned off so that captures are not held pending automatic captioning before being made available to students.
You can still use manually uploaded captions, and you must require captions and videos to include before they are available to students.
