Features
Audio Descriptions: Manual upload of Standard Audio Descriptions
We are excited to announce the ability to manually upload standard audio descriptions directly to your media in EchoVideo. This enhancement empowers content creators to provide meaningful contextual narration for on-screen actions, improving the learning experience for all students, especially those who rely on auditory access to visual information.
This feature reflects our continued commitment to meeting WCAG accessibility standards and supporting institutions in achieving ADA Title II requirements for equitable access to digital instructional materials.
What Is New?
- Upload a simple audio description track alongside your existing media.
- Automatically integrates with EchoVideo’s playback experience.
- Enables instructors and support teams to provide essential descriptive context for viewers as needed.
Why It Matters
Providing accurate audio descriptions ensures that learners who are blind or have low vision can fully engage with course content. By offering a straightforward, instructor-friendly upload workflow, EchoVideo helps institutions advance universal design principles and maintain compliance with federal accessibility obligations.
This update reinforces our mission to make EchoVideo a platform where every learner can succeed, regardless of ability.
Player: Live Captions
We are pleased to introduce Live Captions in EchoVideo, bringing real-time, machine-generated captioning to your live-streamed sessions. This enhancement supports more inclusive learning environments by ensuring students can follow along with course content in real time, regardless of hearing ability or environmental constraints.
What Is New?
- Real-time captions are available during live streams within EchoVideo
- Automatic display in the video player with no additional setup required
Why It Matters
Live Captions play a critical role in reducing accessibility barriers and improving comprehension for diverse learners, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing, multilingual students, and anyone accessing content in noisy or quiet settings.
This release advances our commitment to meeting WCAG accessibility standards globally and helps American institutions fulfil their obligations under ADA Title II, ensuring equitable, timely access to instructional materials.
EchoVideo remains dedicated to delivering tools that support Universal Design for Learning (UDL) so every student can participate fully and meaningfully.
Echo360 Device Monitor Service: Windows 11 support

- Improved reliability and performance when detecting device status
- Enhanced stability in mixed-OS environments for institutions migrating from Windows 10
This update ensures that EchoVideo continues to integrate seamlessly with modern operating systems and supports the ongoing technology lifecycle planning of our customer institutions.
Improvements
Accessibility Compliance Update
As part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility, this release of EchoVideo includes continued enhancements toward full compliance with ADA Title II requirements. We are committed to ensuring we are fully compliant at the earliest available opportunity, giving customers ample time to test, validate, and prepare their environments ahead of the 2026 enforcement deadline. By addressing accessibility early, customers can be confident their EchoVideo experience is inclusive, compliant, and ready for upcoming regulatory standards.
Universal Capture Updates
We have performed maintenance and infrastructure updates on Universal Capture. This latest version addresses an issue where the second display was not being captured on macOS Sequoia and later versions.
The latest version number is 6.0.865728136.
Important Information
Folders
As previously communicated, we are working on an improved Folders and Course experience for release in Q1 & Q2 of 2026. As part of this ongoing work, we are removing the ability for institutions to enable Folders within their EchoVideo Tenant settings. This change prevents further adoption of the current Folders implementation and allows us to focus on delivering the enhanced experience without introducing future migration or usability issues.
Importantly, this update will not remove Folders for any customer who has already enabled them. Existing Folders will continue to function as they do today. As we progress toward the upgraded Folders and Courses experience, we will work directly with these institutions to ensure a smooth transition and support any necessary migration activities.
This adjustment helps us streamline development and ensure that the new, unified organisational structure meets the needs of all users while aligning with long-term platform improvements.
