Live captioning in EchoVideo provides real-time, speech-to-text captions during live streams so viewers can follow along with accessible, on-screen text as the event happens. Instructors and administrators can enable live captioning for supported live streams, giving learners immediate access to captions without waiting for post-processing. This feature helps improve accessibility, supports diverse learning needs, and ensures that all participants can engage with live content more effectively.
To turn on Live Captioning
- Log in to EchoVideo as an administrator.
- Click the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
From the Settings menu, select Institution Settings.
General settings appear, and Basic Info is selected by default.
- Click Features from the middle panel.
- Scroll down to the Accessibility section of the page, shown in the figure below.
- Turn on the toggle for Live Captioning, it is off by default, as shown in the figure above.
- Review the warning message and click Confirm.
Once enabled, Live Captioning can be applied to supported live streams, ensuring real-time accessibility for viewers and reinforcing your institution’s commitment to inclusive, accessible learning experiences.
