Starting with Windows 11 version 22H2, Microsoft introduced changes to its audio recording services that may affect the functionality of UC Classroom Remote Recorder. Specifically, audio recording now requires a Windows user to be signed in after a system reboot. If no user is logged in following a restart, UC Classroom may not be able to capture audio.
To ensure uninterrupted audio recording, users must take steps to address this Windows behavior.
Requirements
- Administrator access to UC Classroom Remote Recorder
- Administrator privileges on the Windows device(s)
Turn On Automatic Restart Sign-On (ARSO)
Microsoft’s ARSO feature is the preferred method to resolve this issue. It allows the system to automatically sign in a user after a restart, enabling audio recording without manual intervention. This solution is easy to implement and does not alter the user experience.
There are scenarios where ARSO may not function correctly. For more details, refer to Microsoft’s documentation on why autologon might fail.
Steps to Enable ARSO
- Follow the instructions in Microsoft’s guide: Winlogon automatic restart sign-on (ARSO).
- Enable the required group policies.
- Address any conditions that could prevent ARSO from working properly.
EchoVideo is actively investigating additional methods to allow audio recording without requiring a user to be logged in after a system reboot.
