Beginning December 18, 2025, institutions will no longer be able to enable Folders within EchoVideo. This change prevents the adoption of the current Folders implementation as we prepare for the upgraded Folders and Courses experience, which will be released in 2026.
Existing Folders will not be removed and will continue to function normally. Institutions already using Folders will be supported through a guided transition once the enhanced structure becomes available.
Folders are an organizational tool in EchoVideo that makes organizing, finding, and managing content easier. Folders allow you to create a structured hierarchy, including subfolders, to facilitate efficient navigation and management of media. Properly organized folders can make searching for and locating specific content easier. Easily set folder permissions, restricting access to content to authorized users only.
To turn on Folders
- Log in to EchoVideo as an administrator.
- Click the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
From the Settings menu, select Institution Settings.
General settings appear, and Basic Info is selected by default.
- Click Features from the middle panel.
- Turn on the toggle for Folders, it is off by default, as shown in the figure below.
- Review the warning message and click Confirm.
Administrators can now create Institutional Folders manually or enable automatic folder creation via their LMS using LTI 1.3.
