AI Assistant FAQ's and Overview

AI Assistance is integrated into both our Essentials and Advanced packages. That assistant will provide the following:

• Live captioning (Essentials & Advanced)
• AI Markers & Comments (Advanced)
• AI Metrics (Advanced)
• Searchable Transcripts (Advanced)

Below, we will go over what each aspect entails.

Please note 
GoReact uses audio transcription of the posted video to provide AI-generated Markers, Comments, and Transcription. If the video has no audio, these features will not be available.

AI Metrics

GoReact, powered by AI, can now provide detailed metrics for your video. Things such as:

• Filler words (total & percentage)
• Pauses (total & lengthy)
• Pace (wpm, change in pace)
• Hedging words (total & percentage)
• Feedback graph (markers & comments)

AI Markers & Comments

Using the audio transcription of your video, the GoReact AI Assistant can provide auto-generated, immediate feedback on your submission, so you do not have to wait to get better. The AI Assistant will also flag behaviors using pre-generated markers for your discipline. 

Searchable Transcripts

GoReact now provides a searchable transcript for your video, using the audio transcript. So, if there is a specific key point you are looking for, just jump to that moment! There are a few specific features here too:

• Full transcript based on audio
• Time-stamped (jump to moment)
• Speaker identification
• Highlight filler words and hedging words
• Keyword search
• Feedback tools access

How does GoReact’s AI Assistant Work?

GoReact’s AI Assistant is available in our GoReact Advanced package and can be turned on by instructors for individual learning activities within the system. If the AI features are engaged for an activity, GoReact sends a participant’s video submission to our AI partner, who then processes the video according to GoReact’s instructions and returns the following:

1. A time-stamped transcript
2. Auto-generated AI metrics on the submission, and / or
3. Any AI-generated markers and comments enabled by the instructor, depending on what AI features are configured for that activity.

How reliable is the feedback?

GoReact’s AI partner is among the highest rated for transcription accuracy. On the feedback side, while today’s AI models are incredibly powerful, they also are not mistake-free. The AI feedback in our system has been tested and iterated on repeatedly during the beta process and is continually evaluated and improved by GoReact’s product team. AI comments & markers include two options for user feedback on the quality of those AI-generated items – any individual AI marker or AI comment in the feedback panel can be given a thumbs-up or thumbs-down by any user, or it may be deleted entirely by a reviewer role or higher. Both actions are logged by GoReact and will be used to further refine our AI feedback models on an ongoing basis.

Does the AI work on YouTube videos?

At this time, the AI only works on directly uploaded files or sessions recorded directly to GoReact.

Can I add my own AI markers?

While the process for allowing users to add their own AI markers is quite complex, we are always taking suggestions for new markers / comment types for various learning disciplines we should consider offering in the system. Use the Give Us Feedback link in the GoReact application to submit your suggestions.

What languages are available for AI Assistant?

AI Assistant markers and comments are available in U.S. English for all disciplines. For Foreign Language, they are available in Spanish, French, and German. The comments are written from the perspective of an instructor teaching native English speakers studying a foreign language. Part of the comments will be in English to help the student understand the feedback, but they will also quote the text in the transcript that needs improvement and provide an example of the correct text in Spanish, French, or German.

The AI Assistant metrics that are language-dependent (i.e., filler and hedging words) are available only for English.

How does the AI Assistant address potential bias?

Our AI partner’s LLM models for transcription and evaluation are trained on millions of conversations from a wide range of participants across demographics, groups, languages, and language proficiency levels to ensure unbiased, inclusive results.

Does leveraging AI in this way affect our academic integrity?

GoReact uses AI to assist in evaluating participant-submitted work, including metrics and AI-generated feedback. The AI Assistant is not involved in the participant’s creation of submissions on the platform, as one of our central focus areas is the authentic assessment of skill performance.

Does any student data leave the system with the introduction of AI?

The only participant data sent to and processed by our AI partner is the video submission itself. No accompanying personal information is sent to the AI partner. 

Is any of our data used to train the AI model?

The only data GoReact uses to improve the AI Assistant is user interaction data, including user-initiated thumbs-up or thumbs-down actions and deletions of AI markers and feedback. Our data agreement with our AI partner specifies that our customer data processed for AI responses will not be stored or used to further train or enhance their models or offerings. All interactions are protected by contractual data security provisions as outlined below.

What is your security arrangement with your AI partner?

GoReact has explicit data protection agreements with our AI partner (as we do with all subprocessors) consistent with our data protection obligations to our customers. Unlike many AI providers, our AI partner is GDPR compliant and maintains an annual SOC II audit. See https://www.assemblyai.com/security for further details on our partner’s data security.

Does the AI Assistant affect GoReact's FERPA / COPPA / HIPAA / GDPR compliance?

Because the data processed by our AI partner is covered by the same data protection agreements, processes, and policies that apply to all other data in our system, our compliance posture and commitment to privacy and security in these areas remain unchanged.
