Universal Capture (UC) lets you select the desired recording quality when starting a capture if you would like to choose something other than the default (which will be pre-populated for you based on the type of device being used). You can change the quality setting when starting an ad hoc capture from the UC interface by launching the Capture Details screen. Quality selection is also still available when scheduling recordings as well as when creating an ad hoc capture from the Create menu. See also:

If you are planning to live stream captures, know that an on-demand video will automatically be created from the stream and that the live stream quality will be the SAME as that selected for the recording output.
IMPORTANT: Users are not limited in any way to specific quality options. If you are planning to stream the capture Live, we do NOT recommend selecting Highest Quality; live streaming performance is likely to suffer, particularly for users with lower or shared bandwidth.
The following table provides a basic guide for selecting capture output quality, particularly as related to the number of users you expect to stream a capture live (number of individual live streams):

BEST PRACTICE: A/D/V, A/V/V, and A/D/D recordings can be processor-intensive. Do test captures to be sure your computer and input devices output a quality that meets your standards.
To ensure successful recording, we encourage you to follow the below test procedure the first time you use a new quality, especially if you are also using a new computer.
Testing procedure
- Do a 15-minute A/D/V or A/V/V recording with the desired inputs.
- Publish the capture and wait for processing.
- Evaluate the processed capture. Does the output meet your standards?
