While the Save As feature in the video editor does allow you to create a copy of a video or capture, it assumes you are also making edits and sends the capture through the media processor.
If you want only a copy of an existing capture, use the Create Copy feature. It is available from the Captures page using the chevron menu for Completed captures or via the Copy option on the media details page.
Copying large files can take some time. The create copy feature makes a copy of the original, but generating this copy can take some time. While this happens, the copy will appear to be in processing status, but the media processor is not processing it. Also, you won't be able to view the copy until the copy process is complete. The new copy, once created, will appear in the Completed captures list.
To create a copy of a capture or video
- From the Captures page, find the capture you want.
- Click on the capture row to open the media details page, shown in the figure below.
- Click the vertical action menu and then select Duplicate.
- Click OK on the confirmation message, then OK on the notification that your copy has been created.
Once copying is complete, the copy appears in the Captures list with (Copy) appended to the capture name. The new capture copy has the date the copy was made (not the date of the original). In addition, the user who selected to make the copy is the owner of the copy.
You can also click the History tab to view the copy's event date / time information. Notice that the event information is different from that in a typical capture, citing simply when the copy was started and completed.
