New Features Ready to Turn On
These features are ready to go. Talk to your CSM to learn more and turn them on.
Mobile: Ask Inkling (Labs)
What is it?
Enables users to ask a question and receive quick and detailed responses based on the context of the Inkling content they have access to view. Users can generate AI-powered search and document summaries along with references and links to the relevant content.
Why is it important?
Offers a powerful new option to interact with content, to view a variety of AI-generated distillations of an InkDoc like informative summary, descriptive summary, FAQ, and, of course, responses to a specific question.
Notes
- Usage of this feature is limited to Inkling Labs research customers at this time. If you are interested in joining Inkling Labs, please fill out this form.
- At this time, Ask Inkling is a mobile only option.
Learning Pathways: Page Progress Gating
What is it?
Course authors can gate steps based on a learner’s page progress.
Why is it important?
Learners new to Inkling were not always clear on what was expected of them when opening an Inkdoc Step. This feature guides learners to scroll and read through the content, and visually indicates their progress as they move through the page.
Notes
- Enabling this feature will automatically enable Page Progress Gating on all new and existing Inkdoc Steps, so you don’t need to update or re-assign courses to take advantage of it.
- Gating is currently available on single Inkdoc pages.
Learning Pathways: Hide Manager & Supervisor Activity
What is it?
Option to hide course activity / notifications from other managers / supervisors on a team, and make only learner activity visible in field reporting.
Why is it important?
With Global Managers & Supervisors enabled, higher-level managers (ex. HQ users, district / regional managers) do not want their course activity to be visible to lower-level managers (ex. store managers).
Learning Pathways: Assessment Gating & Reporting (Beta)
This beta feature is now available on web and Inkling’s mobile apps for iOS and Android. Please contact your CSM if you are interested in helping us test the beta release.
What is it?
- Course authors can gate steps based on a learner’s assessment results.
- Managers and supervisors can view learners’ assessment scores in field reporting.
Why is it important?
- Learners can only complete the step after passing an assessment, ensuring they’re prepared for what’s next.
- Field managers can intervene if learners need help passing an assessment.
Notes
- This feature works with assessments you’ve already created with Inkling’s assessment widget.
- In this initial release, the feature will support a single assessment per Inkdoc page.
- It can also be used to re-assign assessments to learners, including monthly or annual training a learner may need to re-take.
- You can also reset an assessment for specific learners by re-assigning the course to them.
For more information, see Inkling Authoring Guide > Ch. 6 Widgets > Use the Assessment Widget and Ch. 15 > Creating and Editing Courses.
Library: GA Release
Inkling released the alpha version of the new Library in May 2023, which improves ability for end users to find what they need quickly. Since then, we made significant improvements based on user feedback:
- You can select multiple language and Collection filters, which are filtered based on the languages and Collections to which a user is granted access.
- Changed default sort to “Alphabetical,” instead of “Date added,” for all sections of the Library, except Recently Viewed, which is still ordered by Date viewed.
Additional functionality added for the GA release:
- Changed sort, filter, and view preference to be remembered for each page (Collections, Recently Viewed, Favorites), so if you leave a page and come back your sort, filter, and view preferences stay the same
- Removed the sub-scroll bar in favor of the browser scroll bar
- Increased the number of Inkdocs that display across a larger width browser page from 15 to 30
- Added the ability for admins to choose whether “All Documents” or “Overview” displays as the Library landing page. Notify your CSM if you'd like this option. We recommend that only customers with smaller numbers of Inkdocs (for example, the number of Inkdocs one user sees fits on one page) use “All Documents” as their landing page.
- Added analytics events
- Translated the new library into all 42 supported languages
- Improved back end performance
- Improved accessibility on the Library search bar
To take advantage of all the great new features, ask your CSM to turn on the new library today.
Reader: Better PDF Reader Print
We are releasing a print upgrade that allows end users to print either an entire Inkdoc or one Inkdoc page from the Inkling Reader. The printed content should look closer to the digital version than the previous printed version.
Habitat: Delete Assets from an Asset Library, Alpha Release
Inkling released the Alpha version of the new Asset Library. With the Asset Library, you can:
- See all videos, audio files, and images for one Inkdoc in one place.
- Delete videos, audio files, and images for one Inkdoc from the Asset Library.
Since this is an Alpha release, we don’t have documentation yet and there may be bugs or expected features that aren’t available. We are actively improving and adding to this functionality, so stay tuned.
