The ResponseCard NXT clicker is designed so that you receive visual confirmation of input. The LCD screen displays the response selected, channel setting, and battery life.
The ResponseCard is the size of a credit card and provides the features and functionality required to ensure selections are accurate, timely, and effortlessly transmitted to the presenter’s receiver. Its lightweight, rugged, and durable enclosure allows it to be easily transported from room to room or around the globe for optimum portability. The ResponseCard NXT is fully compatible with PointSolutions software.
NXT clickers ship with a plastic tab in the battery compartment to preserve battery life. Before using your clicker, remove the battery cover and remove the tab.
Press any button to wake up your clicker. It will shut off automatically after several minutes.
Changing the Channel
Your instructor will provide you with the channel number they are using in class. Use the steps below to check your clicker’s channel and change to the correct channel. You have a maximum of 5 seconds to complete each step before the programming process will time out and you must restart from Step 1.
- Press the Channel button.
The light will flash and the current channel number will display on the LCD screen.
- Enter the two-digit channel number.
If the channel is a single-digit number, you must put a 0 in front of the number (e.g., 07 or 52).
- Press the Enter button.
Responding
During the polling session, the ResponseCard NXT prompts you to enter the proper response type. An indicator appears in the top left side of the screen for each question type.

When you respond to a live polling question with your clicker, the LCD screen will display the answer you’ve chosen. After typing your answer, be sure to click the Enter button on the clicker to submit your response to the question.

When sending a response or when a response is successfully received, an icon appears at the bottom center of the screen. The following are graphic representations of these icons:

Logging Into a Test
You can use your ResponseCard NXT clicker to submit your responses to a test that your instructor has provided through a self-paced polling session. Once your instructor opens the self-paced polling session, follow the steps below to submit your answers using your ResponseCard NXT clicker.
- Press any button on the keypad to open the Test workflow.
You will see a Welcome message followed by a battery check.
- You may be prompted for your ID.
- Press the left function key to clear the information displayed.
- Enter your ID.
- Press OK.
- You may be prompted for the Test Version.
- Locate the Test Version number on the paper test.
- Use the number pad to enter the Test Version.
- Press OK.
The test name, version number (if applicable), and question count are displayed.
If the information displayed in the previous step is correct, press OK. Press the back button (left function key) if the information is incorrect. Verify that the ResponseCard NXT is on the correct channel and begin the process from Step 1.
You are now in the Test and you can use your ResponseCard NXT clicker to navigate through the questions and submit your answers.
Taking a Test
Enter a response for each question in the test. Use the left and right arrow keys to move forward or backward through the test questions.
Respond to each question in the test based on the question type. When your answer has been submitted for a question, the question number will be displayed at the top of the LCD screen.
- Single Response - Press the button that corresponds with the answer choice. Answer choices can be alpha or numeric.
- Short Answer - Use the number pad to enter the answer text (Each number corresponds with several letters. For example, press 2 twice to enter B.) and press OK.
- Numeric Response - Enter the response using the number pad and press OK.
- Essay - Use the number pad to enter the answer text (Each number corresponds with several letters. For example, press 2 twice to enter B.) and press OK.
- Multiple Response - Enter your answer choices and then press OK. Answer choices can be alpha or numeric.
- True / False - Press 1 / A for True or 2 / B for False.
Scrolling Through Questions
Use the left and right arrows to scroll backward or forward through the question rolodex.
Go To a Specific Question
- Press the left function key.
- Use the number pad to enter the question number.
- Press the Enter button to be taken to the question.
Sending a Test
When answering the last question of the test, you will receive a message that the test is complete or incomplete.
Complete
- Press the right function key to send the test.
Press the left function key to return to the test and review your answers.
- The ResponseCard NXT will save the test and send it to the host computer.
Incomplete
- Press the left function key twice to return to the test.
You are automatically taken to the unanswered questions.
- Once all the questions have been answered, you will receive a message that the test is complete.
- Press the right function key to send the test.
- The ResponseCard NXT will save the test and send it to the host computer.
