EchoExam courses allow you to share your Exams with a roster of learners. This allows you to easily limit who has access to each Exam and makes it easy for learners to find related Exams in one place. With EchoExam you can create courses manually or link them to courses you have set up in your learning management system (LMS).
Create a Manual Course
If you are also using EchoPoll, courses that you create in EchoExam will automatically be added to EchoPoll (and vice versa) to save you time.
If you are not using an LMS, you can create courses manually in EchoExam. You can also use manual courses to supplement courses you have brought in from your LMS.
- From a web browser, go to your region's login page:

Enter your email address and click Sign In.
If you are part of multiple institutions, from the dropdown, choose your institution and click Sign In.
- Enter your password and click Sign In.
- Click Create in the upper right of the header and select Course.
- This will bring up the New Course window. Type in a Course Name and click Create.
Your course is created.
After your course is created, you will be taken to the Course. Here, you can manage your course roster, adjust the course details, and more.
EchoExam Course Options
Now that you've created a Course, let's review your Course options.
Details
To review your Course Details, click the Details tab at the top of the Course page.
Here you can
- Edit your Course Name.
- Give your course a Description to provide extra context for your Learners.
- Add additional Instructors to share your Course with.
- Add a Cover Image that will be shown in the Course tile in EchoExam to both learners and instructors.
Roster
To create or edit your course roster, click on the Roster tab on the Course page.
From the Roster tab, you can
- Filter your learners by All Learner, Active Learners, and Pending Learners from the drop-down in the top right. The default is All Learners.
- Search for learners using the search bar in the top middle of the page.
- Add new learners using the New Learner button.
- Remove learners by clicking the Remove Learner button (x) to the right of a specific learner.
- Resend a Course invitation by clicking the Resend Invitation button to the right of a specific learner.
Results
To see the results of Exams in this Course, click on Results at the top of the Course page.
From the Results tab, you can
- View completed Exam Results for that course.
- View Learner Scores for Exams by rostered learner.
Exams
To review your Exams, click the Exams tab at the top of the Course page.
Here you can
- Create a New Exam.
- Search for an exam using the search bar in the top middle of the page.
- Filter your Exams by status - Draft, Ready, In Progress, or Complete.
- Sort Exams by Start Date: Ascending, Start Date: Descending, Updated, Created, Name A to Z, Name Z to A.
Creating a Synced EchoExam Course From Moodle, Sakai, or Schoology
- Log into EchoExam with your Instructor account.
- Click Create in the upper right of the header and select Course.
- Select Import from LMS.
You will see a dropdown menu that includes all of the LMS connections set up by your administrator. If you do not see the LMS that you are trying to connect to, reach out to your organization administrator to get connected
- Click Sign in to LMS.
You may be taken to a new tab to sign into your LMS.
- From your LMS, navigate to a course and click the LTI link to link your EchoExam and LMS accounts.
After clicking on the LTI link and signing in to your EchoExam account, your LMS and EchoExam accounts will be connected, and you will see a list of your LMS courses in the Import from LMS tab.
- From EchoExam, select Add on the course(s) you wish to import.
You can select multiple courses at once.
- Once you have made all of your selections, click Import.
Once the course(s) are successfully imported, you will see the course(s) in your EchoExam My Courses tab. Click Open Course and go to the Details tab of the course. Click Edit to edit the description of your course if desired.
Creating a Synced EchoExam Course From Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace (D2L)
- Log into EchoExam with your Instructor account.
- Click Create in the upper right of the header and select Course.
- Select Import from LMS.
You will see a dropdown menu that includes all of the LMS connections set up by your administrator. If you do not see the LMS that you are trying to connect to, reach out to your organization administrator to get connected.
- Click Sign in to LMS.
You may be taken to a new tab to sign into your LMS.
After signing into your LMS, you may see an authorization screen depending on the LMS and configuration. Once you authorize the connection, you will be redirected back to EchoExam with a valid connection between your EchoExam account. Your LMS and EchoExam accounts will be connected and you will see a list of your LMS courses in the Import from LMS tab.
- From EchoExam, select Add on the course(s) you wish to import.
You can select multiple courses at once.

Once you have made all of your selections, click Import.
