Some institutions will provide their copyright policy information on the Legal page in EchoVideo, making it available for users to review or reference as needed.
Once a Copyright Policy is in place, Audio, Video, Interactive Media, and Spherical (360°) Video can have the copyright applied to them by administrators or content owners. When applied, a © Copyright indicator will then appear in the player for users and provide a link to view the full Copyright Policy.
To Enable the Copyright
- Log into EchoVideo.
- From your Library, select the media for which you want to enable the Copyright.
- Click Permissions, as shown in the figure below.
- Enable the Copyright toggle. It is disabled by default, as shown in the figure above.
- Once enabled, you can toggle on Restrict Download and/or Restrict Unauthenticated Viewing.
When Restrict Download is enabled, end users will not be able to download the media or any associated transcript files. Administrators and the content owner can still download.
When Restrict Unauthenticated Viewing is enabled, if the viewer does not have an authentication token they cannot view the media, i.e., if their session has timed out or if someone had created a public link to the media.
NOTE that the Restrict Download and Restrict Unauthenticated Viewing toggles will override any other content settings. For example, if media is published into a Section that allows downloads but the Restrict Download toggle is ON, then no one will be able to download it from the Section aside from the owner or any Administrators.
