Widgets are interactive learning objects that can be used stand-alone or added to a course. Start with a growing library of widget types (templates) and use our WYSIWYG editor and previewer to quickly build your interactive content. These can be downloaded as a package, added to a course, or use the embed link to add the widget via a link or iframe to your existing content.
The types of widgets available are:
- Assessment
- Flashcard
- Hotspot
- Media Gallery
- Tab and Accordion
- Categorization
- Video
Common Steps
This section describes the common steps involved whether you create a new widget or use an existing widget.
- Click Course Structure from the menu.
- Choose a lesson that will contain the widget.
- Select Blocks from the menu.
- Choose One Column, Two Column, or Minor Major.
- Select Widget.
- Choose a Widget from the New Widget tab or an existing Widget from the Content Manager tab of the Add Widget window.
Narrowing your Search
You can search for the type of Widget to narrow down your selection as shown in the figure below.
You can also filter the Widgets by type to narrow down your selection as shown in the figure below.
Creating a New Widget
- To create a new widget, select the New Widget tab if it is not already selected.

Find the type of widget you would like to create.

- Click Select while hovering over the Widget you want to create.

Name your Widget and click Add.
The widget is added to the selected lesson.
- Click the Click here to add content link to edit the widget.
Using an Existing Widget
- To use an existing widget, select the Content Manager tab.

Select the type of existing widget you would like to use.

You can sort the results using the following criteria:
- Updated (default)
- Name A to Z
- Name Z to A
- Size
- Once you have found the existing widget, hover over it and click Add.
The widget is added to the selected lesson.
Editing Widgets
You can edit a widget after creating a new one or adding an existing one.

Click the Click here to add content link or the Edit Widget button, as shown in the figure below, to edit the widget.
If the widget is already being used in another course you will see a warning similar to the one below:
The warning is to let you know that if you change the widget, it will be affected in the versions used in those courses. -
Click Continue to proceed.
Depending on the type of widget that you are editing, the widget will display in Edit mode.
- Edit the widget.
- Click the Preview tab to preview your changes.
- Access the Settings and / or Themes sections to make changes.
- Click Back when finished editing the widget.
